could not get non smoking room last minute! pro: cheap rates, free breakfast, microwave, mini fridge, free parking, close to freeway and Berkeley. convenient, practical. cons: stinky smoky room, too close to freeway.neighborhood doesn't look pleasant, safe or conducive to relaxation.

My wife and I always stay in this hotel. If you plan to go to Richmond/Berkeley this hotel is the right one for you. Front manager desk Mr. Burathoki does an awesome job. Highly recommended.

I thought i swore off super 8s but this one was great they even accomodated late stay and wifi worked great too It was updated and much cleaner than last horrid experience at super 8 in albuquerque

This was a great hotel. We will use it again if we are ever back in the area. We flew into town to watch a sports event at UC Berkley. It was an easy drive to to sports arena. It was right off the expressway. Great price. It is an older hotel but has all been redone and is very clean. Would recommend to anyone.

Nice hotel but shower water is lukewarm Horrible in cold weather...told management to turn up the water heater but they didn't.Cold breakfast room with bowls and cups that melt in the microwave...Cant heat up anything..dont know why they have a microwave with utensils that you can't use. I've never stayed in a Super 8 before and I was a little apprehensive about it but it was the only thing available last minute and I saw really good reviews. So I took the chance and tried it out. The Asian guy at the front desk, which I believe is the hotel manager was not friendly at all. I came in to check in like around 11 am and you would think […] he would say "Hello, good morning. How are you?" (you know the formalities) but he waited till I said hi and he didn't even acknowledge it. He asked for my name, gave me a form to sign and that's it. Talk about customer service. Other than that, the hotel room was clean and spacious. I was hardly there and just went there to take a shower and sleep. So if you're looking for that, then go right ahead. The rooms were clean, newly refurbished, comfortable and located to a near a BART station for ease of access to the city without having to fight the Bay Area traffic by car. Half the price of most hotels in downtown San Francisco.

Hotel was a good value for the price. Room was clean, newly furnished and convenient for our trip. Breakfast offered was good as well. This hotel is located near 80, so it's a little noisy when the windows are open. I would stay at this hotel again.

need to fix water leak dripping through bathroom ceiling when folks use shower directly above...don't use room until leak is fixed.

The people at the front desk were really unfriendly, which kind of ruined it for me. The actual town of El Cerrito is kind of scary and i wouldn't stay there again. Rooms are very dark, but updated.

This was a great option for our family while we were visiting our son at UC Berkeley. The price was great and the location was not too far from the school. Other hotels are closer to the school, but the price was so much lower that it was worth it to us to drive a few exits down the freeway. We stayed closer last time but paid three times as much! Not […] worth it to me... I was pleasantly surprised at he comfort and cleanliness of the hotel. The beds were some of the most comfortable beds my husband and I have ever slept in at a hotel. WARNING!This is a horrible place to stay! When i checked in,i was told that the room was ready but we would have to wait for towels! My mom and i were celebrating her 50th birthday at a concert, after a 4 hour car drive we wanted to shower and freshen up before we went out for the night. We waited for towels.... They never came. When i inquired,i was […] told that the towels were not done yet.The next morning i again asked for towels.... I was given ONE TOWEL! He told me i would have to wait a while if i wanted more. to top off the lame room, poor service and lack of towels, the motel is located in a bad part of town. I woke up to a flat tier.... I had to stay at multiple hotels along my most recent trip, and I'm glad that this is the one where I had to stay longest. Clean room, plenty of space, safe area. Had plenty of power outlets accessible, a clean fridge, convenient desk, as well as a couch. The location was sometimes annoying to get to, just with all the divided roads and stoplights nearby, […] but the area felt safe. Near a Denny's, Safeway, and Walgreens. The only issue I had was a broken stopper in the bathroom sink, which I took out and didn't bother reporting. The surrounding neighborhood looked a little sketchy, but no problems overall.

Noise from other guests, slamming doors, etc was a problem; When passing hotel workers, managers, etc in hall, no one said hello or tried to be pleasant

Pleasant stay. Did not have a lot of contact with personnel. Desk clerk was not visible except when checking in. Housekeepers were friendly and waited until we were out of the room to clean iup.

Nice rooms and good value, we were flying in then heading north so very convenient. Reception is a bit tired, welcome a bit average but we arrived very late. All in all it did the job.

The room was clean and very convenient and practical. The lobby was smelly of cigarettes and the front desk clerk was annoyed at having to service us. For the price, the room was practical and tolerable..Too bad that the front desk and the lobby is the first impression given and these were the ones that needed the most attention.

If you want a clean, affordable, convenient, friendly place to stay in the Bay Area this is the place. It is not a luxury hotel, but I am not a high roller. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly. Located right by BART and I-80 getting around is so convenient. There is also a Safeway right across the street and rooms have microwaves […] and refrigerators so the budget traveler can eat simple meals in the room. There is a pretty decent free breakfast in the morning so it's very easy to keep spending on food within reason. I travel to the Bay Area several times a year and always book at this hotel. good, easy to find, clean room, comfortable, nice bathroom, continental breakfast good, usual coffee, rolls, fruit. They started breakfast 15 minutes late, at 6:15 am not at 6 am. We had a time crunch to meet in SF at 7:30 and find parking. But we were able to make our destination.

Plain but clean. Very basic breakfast but the no complaints since it's included in the room. Good free wifi. Comfortable bed. Towels a bit skimpy. Easy access to I80. Not the nicest scenery on the north side of the motel - unless you like a decrepit ~56 Cadillac and '54 Buick in the building lot next door. Overall, it's a very good value.

Not a very clean place. Carpets could be changed everywhere. Bathroom was clean. Old TV but not a big deal. Best,firmest bed of any hotel I have visited.That impressed me. Basic accommodation. No newspaper in the door front,as advertised,not a big deal for me since internet was fast enough to catch up on news. I slept with my clothes on both nights […] cause I was not comfortable with cleanliness level,specially carpets. Area not the best. Witnessed a "working woman" bring/come with a John on Friday night for a stay/service. That raised my concern on cleanliness if you know what I mean. Would be worth 30-50 bucks a night elsewhere.
