Beautiful, restored old hotel with a rooftop terrace where you eat a free breakfast buffet while getting a panoramic view of San Diego. We could have stayed all day on the roof! Lovely marble floors and walls and brass fixtures throughout the hotel. Great service. Surrounding area is a little noisy at night.

Upon booking (one week prior ) I was not made aware of the fact that construction was going on. I was awakened at 7am to a nice drilling sound on the other side of my room. What a fantastic awakening to my boyfriends birthday weekend. The service was great, the room was clean, the roof top was clean and quiet with a nice view. We promptly left at 10am […] because the sound was unbearable. I informed the front desk of the issue and they did apologize and offer to move us AFTER the fact. Wouldn't they know they have guests staying in certain rooms? So why they would allow the construction workers around that general area is beyond me. Quite not the usual hospitality I am accustomed to. Overall, a beautiful hotel with amazing architecture. Oh and situated in a perfect spot in gaslamp. Skaityti daugiau

We stayed one night. Cousin visiting out of town, so took him to party in gaslamp. Hotel was great. Pros - you walk out and everything is around you. room is comfy and clean. Depends on how many of you there are. We got the room with the king bed and sofa bed. We needed 2 more beds, but could only fit 1 rollaway in the room. so 5 or more people, this […] room gets tiny!. Cons - didn't really see any. Parking is $30, but next door is a parking lot. $25 for 24 hour parking. We only stayed 1 night. But overall, I recommend this hotel. Skaityti daugiau

Pros: The location, you can walk to anything on 5th street which is where all the excitement is. The rooms were clean. The view from the roof was really nice. Cons: The cost of parking was ridiculous. It was $30 dollars a night to park your car overnight with the hotel and there was no overnight parking elsewhere. The customer service was not that great, […] either. The main guy at the front desk (His name was Sean or something like that) was literally a stoner. I couldn't take him seriously and he wasn't professional or helpful. The breakfast also SUCKED. There was a sign over the "toast" that said bagels offered Wednesdays and Fridays only, I mean, really? Also, I noticed that the cost of the last night, a Saturday night was $259. I thought this price was ridiculous for this hotel. Not even cool "old school" feel. Rooms are tiny, no water pressure, beds are really hard. No windows that bring in light. Kept up all night by elevator, AC compressor and hearing people outside the glass door. Do not stay here. But this place is in a great location.

This is a nice hotel rooms were clean. The people were helpful finding places to go.like for dinner or a nice beach. Good view from the roof while eating breakfast. Breakfast could have been better though

Do not book this hotel if you want to sleep, the walls are paper thin and the noise goes on all night. They have done some great rehab on this 100 year old building turning office space into suites, but it sounds like everyone on the floor is in your room. The hotel is in the center of the GasLamp District with bars going all night, which might be fun […] for some, but is very loud. Music beats pound through the walls until the bars close at 2AM, then the police make drunk arrests and clear the streets until about 3:30, then the all night parties start in the hotel, with lots of shouting and slamming doors that make the room shake like an earthquake. Around 8AM they serve a nice continental breakfast on the beautiful roof garden with fabulous views for guests that make it through the night. AT check out you can pay your $30 parking fee and tour San Diego, if your eyes will stay open. Bottom line, this is a mixed bag. Extremely high cost to valet park at downtown location while staying at the hotel. And the so-called 'continental breakfast' was pathetic.

Loved the hotel! The room was clean and comfy and the hotel staff was very friendly. The location is fantastic with tons of restaurants and Horton Plaza just down the street. The only downside is the neighborhood is incredibly loud and it lasts pretty much all night long. Our room was on the 8th floor facing 5th St. and it sounded like we were at street […] level. Not a deal breaker but definitely something to keep in mind. Overall, the hotel was nice and in a great location. The free breakfast was not very good and internet service is an additional $12.00/day.

Great service by the staff. Excellent location for exploring the restaurants and clubs downtown. Not the quietest location for a vacationing family, but it was very comfortable.

The location was excellent and within walking distance to several venues. The staff was very pleasant, however, I was very disappointed with the facility overall. The room was a little smaller than I expected and it was very dusty. The housekeeper came in at least 2 of the 4 days during my stay to "tidy" up and refresh the towels, but did not provide […] any further cleaning. No room between the bathroom door and bed, maybe 3-feet total and the bed stopped it from opening all the way. Once open you could not get by it. Room was to small to be call a suite. very loud from machinery on their roof top next to the room. Construction was going on outside that started at 7 am. Parking was 30 dollars a day. Construction hit a water line. No water for half and day. Will not stay there again.

The most comfortable bed, quiet and able to blackout windows you can sleep all day. Hot hot water, super remodel of an old Gaslamp property. 10 min walk to Petco and in the middle of Gaslamp - never drove while there. Sketchy wifi not free but good free avail locally. Super rooftop view and breakfast. Best value on hotels.com!

I was initially very impressed with this vintage hotel. My husband and I were on a weekend getaway to San Diego and the location was great for us. The hotel itself is old and has a ton of character. The architecture and decor is awesome. This was a compromise though... to be within easy walking distance of restaurants and bars, we also had to put up […] with the street noise. The window in our bedroom wouldn't shut properly so my light-sleeper husband had trouble staying asleep until about 2:00 or 3:00 am. The cool vintage feel does little for practical needs like noise abatement. I was also a little disappointed with our bathroom. I could totally understand and love the old fixtures and subway tile if it was actually cared for. There was hair in the tub and some small strips of the grout lines had begun to turn pink from mold or bacteria. The bed and linens were comfortable and the suite was a nice size. One more thing about the hotel that had originally sold me on it was the complimentary continental breakfast on the roof of the building. The views and location were really neat, but the meal was lacking. It was basically toast, pastries, apples, cereal, and beverages. I guess I've come to expect more from continental breakfast - at least some protein. In conclusion, our stay had pros and cons. All in all I would probably search for a new hotel next time. $30 for parking seemed steep. Extra for WiFi was not welcome. But the part I disliked most was the poor poor "continential" breakfast.

after reading the reviews mostly good and some bad. The hotel is old but redone love the marble floors very uniqu. With the hotel created from an old office building, they had the basic amenities and it was pretty close to many stores and restaurants. The rooms were small but very comfortable.

We stayed at the Gaslamp Plaza Suites during my getaway and visit to San Diego. We stayed in studio suite 710 which we reserved online for $99/night which got us a studio suite with a queen bed and a window box seating area. No sofa like the suites posted in photos. We were very happy with our stay and got engaged that night in Little Italy! There is […] valet parking for $30/night and the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful since we didn't know the area. The hotel is literally steps from all the bars in the Gaslamp district and provided for a fun bar crawl following our engagement! The hotel is a beautiful early 20th century building, originally a bank building. The rooms still maintain an air of the original office suite style, doors with mail slots for example. Stay was good except for the last night where some drunk couple were standing outside my door having an arguement. It got very loud and I had to call the front desk. It took 2 calls from me and one from another guest on the floor before security came up.
