Hotel Laurus al Duomo - Florence

Simply fantastic deal. The hotel is conveniently located halfway between the railway station and the Duomo, walking distance to the attractions and right on the edge of the shopping belt. The room I had was modern and comfortable.

We were very pleased with the location and rooms. The bathrooms were great and the breakfast/restaurant balcony had a lovely view of the Duomo, which was just within walking distance. The only downside was a slightly rude set of front desk workers. Overall, we had a very nice stay.

Great location right near the Duomo. Room was fairly clean, nothing fancy but ok (kind of more dorm-like than a hotel room). However it was tiny and the bed was really hard. Not a huge deal since you spend more time sightseeing anyway. If you want something a bit nicer will need to spend a bit more - good for the price.

This is a 4+ star hotel. A bigger bath room than expected via European standards. Great staff and service. Comfortable rooms and ammenities. Most importantly, the location is perfect. You will never be far from your room if you stay at this hotel; you will be in the center of it all!

We visited at the end of January 2013. The location of the hotel is excellent -- a few minutes walk from the main train station in Florence and only 2 minutes walk from the Duomo. It is right on the edge of the designer shopping streets on one side and the more bohemian student quarter on the other. Our bedroom was on the top floor and had a view across […] the rooftops to San Lorenzo and the Cappelle Medicee -- really lovely. The room was big enough for us, with an adequate bathroom, all clean and well maintained. The breakfast room was one floor below us, with a lovely balcony with views across the city and of the Duomo. Good choice of food at breakfast and helpful staff throughout the hotel. They are running a programme called Life Beyond Tourism, which aims to encourage visitors to get a better understanding of the culture and spirit of the place. The best thing about this hotel is the location. Easy to visit the main places of interest in Florence and go back to the hotel to make a coffee or have some lunch. Note that you can have a tray with kettle coffee tea delivered to your room daily for free. This is a definite plus considering the price of these incidentals when out sightseeing. We were really pleased with this hotel. Location was great! Our room was really comfortable and very spacious, also the bathroom was really good size and clean, so we were really please with that because the bathroom in our hotel in Rome was tiny. The Staff at the Duomo were really friendly and willing to answer any question we had.

The hotel was excellent and could not have been better, and the front-desk staff were very helpful. The room was a little dated for a four-star. We also had a premium room with a King and a view, so I was surprised by the hard bed. It was the least comfortable bed in a three-week vacation in Southern Europe!

Location within walking distance from rail station and the Duomo Cathedral. Bathroom was luxurious in size with a full size soaker tub - rare find in our travel in Italy. Beautiful property, excellent location, and friendly staff. Beds were comfortable, rooms were well maintained and very clean. Located steps away from the Duomo. Lots of surrounding shopping, banks, and restaurants. Hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. Definitely recommended.

We stayed for 3 nights and loved the hotel. The rooms are modern and clean, the staff is friendly, and the location can't be beat. Just steps to the Duomo and all major sights accessible by foot. The train station SMN is 5 minutes away. We will definitely come back when in Firenze again.

Conveniently located, just 4 blocks from Florence train station (Firenze SM). About same distance to Uffizi Gallery and to Academia Gallery, Ponte Vecchio and to the beautiful cathedral. What a pleasant surprise, the location of this hotel is excellent.. We had a great room 606 with a terrace and view, breakfast was awesome.. Very clean, big for Italy standards would recommend and definitely return. I am a very picky person, usually stay at 5 Star hotels so you won't be disappointed.

The hotel was fantastic. It was well located. The rooms were clean and modern. Staff were very helpful and gave great recommendations for dining from a maze of restaurants. All the sights were within walking distance. There was a coffee shop on the ground floor for a quick coffee before starting our day. I would definitely stay at this hotel again!

This hotel is in a prime location for visiting the sights of Florence. Our room was very comfortable and like the rest of the hotel was kept immaculately clean. If you had any requirements or needs, you simply had to dial reception and within minutes a member of staff was at your door with your need delivered. Excellent!

The location is perfect. My room was large even for American standards. The decor was updated and cheerful. The bathroom was large and the tub was big and so needed after so much walking. Fantastic hotel with wonderful staff walking distance to all key sights. We had a view room facing the chuch and the street - very nice. Breakfast was excellent and the espresso machine provided morning jolt of great coffee. The view from our room was excellent and even better with our complimentary drinks on the 6th floor terrace bar. Staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Fantastic location, and very friendly staff. The hotel's wine/breakfast bar overlooks the Duomo and has a fantastic view of the city. The rooms are large, but fairly spartan. An evening on the roof-top balcony/cafe capped a very nice stay at this hotel. We originally went up only for evening glass of wine before dinner, and ended up staying a couple hours to watch the sun set and listen to the bells of the Duomo. We had a very enjoyable stay. The hotel service was excellent. However the best aspect is the location, it is very close to the Duomo. Although the area around the Duomo is expensive to eat, the views whilst you eat are outstanding. The buildings are beautifully lit up at night and it only a short walk back to the hotel afterwards.

Ordered coffee service for the room. Every day maid took away service. So, we had to request it every day. Somewhat of a hassle. Browser on computer at internetpoint not updated. Was never able to access it. Loved the rooftop terrace and the breakfast. My wife and I had the terrace all to ourselves for our wedding anniversary.

Food at the hotel (in the wine bar) was horrible, and there was only one guy working there who was bartender, waiter, and cook. He was overwhelmed and we felt really bad for him. but still had a very nice time! breakfast was good.

Excellent hotel and excellent location, very close to the must-see sights in Florence, Hotel staff extremely helpful. Very nice breakfast buffet included in the room rate. Rates were about the best that we found in Florence for the quality and service received. We will go back to the Laurus al Domo and will certainly recommend it to friends.

The hotel is situated about ten minutes walk from the train station. It has good sized rooms and lovely views of a church and hills. The air- conditioning was great. The breakfast while not varied was good except for the juices. Coffee and tea and an ironing board have to be requested but are delivered quickly. Excellent location and nice rooms - larger than expected. We got rooms with a view (peripheral) view of the duomo which was wonderful. The roof terrace/breakfast area was a real treat. The hotel is a bit dated but overall a first class experience!

Great base for Florence. Hotel was spotlessly clean and ALL the staff were helpful and friendly, even when we were tired and being dense! Room excellent, bed firm but very comfortable and accurately described as we opted for a "no view" room, which meant it just looked out over rooftops of ordinary buildings but still had decent chunk of sky to look […] at (great during the thunderstorm!) and very quiet. Hotel has two lifts, which apparently not all Florence hotels do. Buffet breakfast was good, staff excellent, all the usual choices and not cramped. The standout feature is the terrace used for breakfast, drinks and meals, which looks straight down to the Duomo etc, also has small belltower opposite. Loved starting the day on the terrace with the pealing of bells every so often, magic. Special mention for the maid sevice, our room was kept absolutely spotless for the whole holiday, she obviously took great pride in her work. Tea etc facilities not in room but available free for whole break on request. They ask not to use your own iron, but iron and board always delivered promptly. Meals are limited, tend to be selection boards of cheeses/meats but think this a wise decision as we found a host of different eateries, cheap and expensive, all serving fabulous food. Our room (411) was very comfortable and clean and really quiet - we were at the back of the hotel with views of rooftops and there was no city noise at all. The air con in the room was very powerful and the breakfast was good. The view of the Duomo from the roof terrace at breakfast was stunning.
