Senator Inn & Spa - Augusta

Room 201 was a former smoking room - it smelled like stale smoke, especially when fans were running....should not be advertised as "non-smoking" in it's present state. Pool and spa area were lovely and breakfast was great.

We arrived with four reserved room and needed an additional that they were able to find as our group had grown. We had three special needs people in our group and staff couldn't of been nicer being sure that we were all set and comfortable. The room was sure nice for a overnight sleep, but the hotel needs some renovation.. The breakfast was really good, and so was the service at the frontdesk.

Overall this was a cute quiet place. My only complaint would be finding my rm. perhaps my checkin could have been more clear that my entrance was thru the spa and couldn't be seen from the road.

Great stay, our room was a little out dated with the bathroom, but it served the purpose. Very elegant spa and pool area. Would be lovely to have been able to stay several days and take advantage of all the amenities.

While this hotel might be better suited to a romantic getaway than a family vacation (no under-15s allowed in hot tub, sauna, fitness area), it was a wonderfully staffed, clean, and comfortable place to relax.

I was quite surprised with the poor quality of the Presidential Suite. The paint in the bathroom was peeling and the overall quality was old, smelled of smoke and dingy. In addition, there was work going on during the day and the noise was very loud.

Except for the fact that I was at an exit and there seemed to be a bit of noise....I do believe it was one of the better hotels that I have stayed at. Continental breakfast was the best I have had anywhere. Wouldn't hesitate to book here again.

Because this hotel serves the locals as a spa we couldnt help fall into relax mode. The pool closed at 9pm and were use to 11pm so we pre-ordered room service and went for a swim/hot tub. In the morning we slept through our alarm only to awake at 9:30am when the buffet breakfast ended. We phoned the restaurant and they were kind enough to hold breaky […] for us. After breakfast, because check-out is 12pm, our kids got to go for another swim. Better than I expected. Most importantly, about 1 mile from the wonderful Rail Trail beside the beautiful Kennebec (which was why we chose this location over others).

The stay was great, the family loved the pool, yoga and work out rooms. Our dogs liked the accommodations also, but did bring their own beds and blankets. Breakfast was delicious and the staff very helpful. We did ask to stay in one of the three rooms until late afternoon. We were told it would be an additional charge which was too bad. I would go back again. The staff and management really strive to make it a home away from home. Little details like cleaning snow off the patrons cars was a nice touch. Those little extras are nice. I was well relaxed while there and was almost sorry to have to leave.

We booked the Senator in Augusta on a whim, not knowing much about the city or the location of the hotel relative to other attractions. It was situated right off the highway, couldn't miss it. Very close to shops and restaurants. It was a fantastic stay. Guests have access to the gym and spa where they have an indoor pool, sauna, steam room and hot […] tub. Guests are also allowed access to the fitness classes. The staff were very accommodating and friendly and the breakfast in the morning was good. Comfortable beds, also. Have stayed several times in Senator. Enjoyed the pool, breakfast. We were put in far east wing: noisy, trucks passing from 4:30 am on, poor mattress, poorly functioning shower, cold with inadequate blankets. We will insist on another wing if we return.

Easy to locate with friendly staff, Senator Inn and Spa is one of the better mediocre hotel options in Augusta. The rooms are horribly outdated but clean. I found it slightly distressing that in the dead of winter (0 degree high) there was nothing but a flimsy blanket (and one of those scary patterned bedspreads) on the bed. After calling the front […] desk and requesting something warmer, one of those spongy velour blankets (stained no less) arrived at our door. I didn't use it. We attempted to use the pool on Saturday night (about an hour before it closed) because what greater joy could there be than an indoor pool during the winter? Turns out this pool isn't heated, or if it is it's heated VERY low. I lasted about 10 minutes. The hot tub isn't very big and already had about 8 occupants so we just gave up and went back to our room. We did enjoy the daily free breakfast. It was hot and convenient and the coffee flowed. This hotel is obviously older but we could tell that some upgrades had been done. Something really should be done to replace the duck paintings in the room. :) The only main thing I did not like about our room is that the bathroom door did not shut properly, again probably because the building is older. The room was very clean and just right for a cozy […] night's stay. It was nice to have direct access to our vehicle through the outer door or access to the rest of the hotel through the hallway door. The complimentary breakfast at the hotel restaurant was really good with healthy options, a nice change over most pre-packaged hotel breakfasts. Really loved this hotel. When we arrived, after that terrible snow storm drive, the front desk attendant offered to upgrade our room for $20.00, how could we refuse? So we spent the night in this wonderful 2 room suite, with a jacuzzi tub, fireplace and three televisions! We went to the Cloud 9 restaurant right there in the hotel and had a wonderful […] meal. The waitress was wonderful too. Hmmmm, drawbacks? The only problem I found was that the pool was waaaay over in another wing. We never did get to enjoy the hot tub or the pool. Not the most modern, but very beautiful New England hotel with enough of the modern conveniences to make the stay excellent. Was given a complimentary upgrade to a presidential King room, and though I did not get to use the spa facilities, I did get to see them and they are spectacular. I highly recommend this hotel!

Exit out of the hotel involved going up the road and around the corner. Room was a bit cramped with the bathroom and bed locations. Parking should be assigned as we were not able to park in front of our room.

The Senator Inn is perfect for families! Their Mineral pool was very refreshing and clean. The temperature was just right. I agree with their no children allowed in the hot tub due to the risks associated with that. The room was comfortable, and ALL of the staff were friendly. The complimentary buffet continental breakfast is the best we've ever had […] at any hotel. Our children (all 4 of them) had a great time, and it was a great stay for my husband and I as well. The breakfast food and service were better than most standard hotels like holiday Inn or Marriott. The pool was terrific. The staff was helpful and accommodating. we liked the easy access to our rooms from both inside and outside. The bathroom was the only drawback. A bit old and the sink and space around it could be more comfortable.

Everything was great, although the bath is not very user friendly, toilet ran, sink drained slowly, and door is hard to negotiate. Staff were extremely helpful and nice, restaurant is certainly worthy of praise, food was outstanding. I will certainly visit again but would opt for and upgrade in room. We enjoyed our stay at this Motel. It was very clean & comfortable & the price was reasonable. Free breakfast is always a plus. It was a hot breakfast which was a bonus.

Half the quality that I expected!!! The Shower was awful, bed was not comfortable. Room felt cramped. DO NOT EAT AT THE RESTAURANT THERE... restaurant service was fine, but food was awful!!! Will never stay at a Senator again... Really expected more quality.

When I booked the hotel I expected a very nice stay for a couple days. However, if you book a non-spa room, it's not very nice. I was originally upgraded to a larger room with a king bed without asking for it. However, the hotel has 3 different wings and this room was located in a wing that looks like a small motel and isn't connected to the rest of […] the hotel. I was also put in the room with the cleaners supply right next to it. Which meant that there were 2 doors that I had to access get into my room and the first one couldn't be locked. I didn't like the security feature of that. I also didn't like the fact that the room didn't seem that clean and in the small hallway leading from the first door to the locked door to my room there was a lot of dirt and spider webs. I asked if I could switch rooms and the woman at the front desk was very nice. She switched me to the type of room I originally booked with a queen bed. When I checked into the room, it was very dated and had a stale smell to it. It went away when I left the window open all the time but was always present in the hallway. The bathroom needed and update as did the furniture as it didn't feel like an upscale hotel that I expected. When we registered at the hotel we were impressed by the pleasant staff, the clean and regal look of the lobby, and the dining room. It all looked very elegant. It turns out that we had a room in a detached building in back of the hotel, I'm guessing reserved for their Expedia customers. The room was still very clean, however you could tell it was older, […] the vanity in the bathroom was losing a layer, couldn't open the window and you had to slam the door at least 3 times before it would close. Since I did not see the rooms in the main hotel, I can't guess if they were better. All in all, I would recommend. Very close to shopping. Staff very nice. I very much enjoyed the extra sink and mirror outside of the bathroom. I have to say I find it odd that hotels in the U.S. do not have blankets on the bed, and no extra blankets on hand.
