I had a great time. The staff was helpful and friendly and the property was beautiful. Only thing I wanted was for food to be available up to 2am or later and the drinks at the disco should be a part of the all inclusive package like the RIU in Jamaica:).

We didn't had much expectations, because I know the hotels in Punta Cana, they are more or less the same. Quality is poor, but we love the beach. The hotel needs a renovation. The last award they got was in 2004.... The children-pool is great! My daughter had a lot of fun! The food was ok, the wine not drink drinkable! Very bad! We had to buy the wine […] for 20$. The staff is nice. The Internet cost 10$ per day and includes only one log-in! Everything outside all inclusive is very expensive in Punta Cana. You have to bargain a lot! The beds and mattresses need badly replaced very uncomfortable, the couch sleeper was dirty and very uncomfortable, the resort itself is beautiful and staff was very nice and efficient. We enjoyed our stay , the room itself was nice just needs new beds.

Beds were HORRIBLE. They don't have Queen/King size beds, my husband and I slept on 2 full size beds pushed together. Beds were so hard and uncomfortable, I didn't sleep well the entire time. Resort is huge, would have prefered a room closer to the main resort/beach. We were on the ground floor, and a hotel staff was sleeping outside of our room in […] the bushes one day!! Even though you can't drink the water there, the front desk seemed annoyed that we would ask for additional bottles of water. The hallway to our room was covered in bugs, which I understand you cannot avoid on the islands, but still very off-putting as they didn't do anything to reduce the "bugginess." None of the bar and restaurant staff spoke English, so language was definitely a barrier. Luckily my husband and I spoke enough Spanish to get by, otherwise I don't know what we would have done. Also, my husband cut his foot open in the pool on the tile. The hotel was decent, but could use some updating. The beds were very uncomfortable & the pillows were even worse. There was suppossed to be food available 24 hours a day however, between the breakfast & lunch buffets (10am - 12pm), the lunch buffet & dinner (5pm - 7pm), the only thing available were nasty hamburgers & hotdogs that you had to heat in […] a microwave at the sports bar & some fruit. You get complimentary entrance to the disco Pacha, but have to pay for your drinks. You have to watch the bartenders, otherwise they will short change you (I caught them twice). Despite those minor things, you get what you pay for. This hotel is not a Riu Palace. Also, the shuttle is $14/person each way & a taxi is about $40. We had a Great Time at this resort, however had a bit of frustration with the fact that my wife cannot use regular milk, lactose intolerant, and getting access hot skim milk proved challenging. The people servicing the restaurant totally ignore our request and I had to be less than polite to call their attention and get what they were asked. The grounds of the hotel were lovely and suited us to a tee. Upon our arrival, they had overbooked and no longer had the room which I had confirmed just 2 days prior. The food was exceptionally first class. The local fruits .-soursop. mangoes,mamey, avocado, papaya, pineapple , watermelon etc were a delightful surprise! The only disappointment was the sushi at the Hibachi restaurant. The rice was grainy whereas it should have been gluey and soft. The Colonial restaurant was exceptional as was the Mamajuana Grille […] The drinks were a bit of a disappointinment. They were all watered down at the bars as well as from the drink dispensers. The entertainment staff were superb. They engaged us in games and general funny acts. Sunami, Peliuca, Chiquita, Romeo and all the other team. Also Front desk Manager and staff. Our room maid Julia was great. The Dancers were all outstanding I particularly liked Sheryl the best.The animation staff wowed us. I recommend blankets for the rooms as the A/C does not cycle off. The pool should have been made larger .. The view of the ocean and the beach was spectacular especially with all the coconut trees. I have told all my friends and family that this was my best vacation ever! Lots of activities. The music was generally okay. Whilst I was taught some dancing steps I found the music heavily bent to the spanish clientele.If you wan to attact more folks from the English speaking Caribbean you need to play soca and reggae. As you step off to the plane, you will be escorted into a beautiful Tiki Hut. After going through customs, make sure to find the pink shirted taxi cab drivers to take you to the Riu Bambu. Upon arrival, you will be greeted extensively and with orange fruity drinks. If you are nice, they may upgrade your room or move you closer to the beach. As three […] college students, we felt extremely safe among the families and elderly crowd. The average age is between 55-75, depending on the day of the week. Do not fear the speedos and topless women on the beach. Everything goes in Punta Cana. At night, there is entertainment galore beginning with the children's show and a very catchy song that you will learn pronto. Then, entertainment staff is there to dance, sing, and provide theatrical performances. One in particular looks and dances like Pitbull. From the looks of things, Michael Jackson is still alive and well in the Dominican performing on Wednesday nights. Many people will approach you to take part in the many water actives available. Parasailing is a breath-taking experience, but you need to sign your life away. An Akon-look-alike drives a boat, so make sure to take a picture. And, Youtube sensation Antoine Dodson "hide yo kids, hide your wife" star-look-alike will ask you to go parasailing. The staff is VERY friendly and there to help you. For work this was my 8th stay in Bavaro this year, first time at the RIU Bambu. Without a doubt, this one has the worst food and food choice out of all of them. The roads to and from the hotel are in a terrible state with more pot-holes than actual road surface. The hotel is dated and needs a major face-lift. Not recommended.

This hotel had great reviews, but when we got there they were not overly friendly and when we got to our room, we found ants all over a table. We went to the front desk and the guy acted like it was not big deal and send a housekeeper with spray. It took care of it for the night but we kept having problems with the ants. Then one day the hot water was […] out. The food and drinks were mediocre at best. The beach was very nice, but all beaches in Punta Cana are nice. The room was pretty standard, nothing great about it, the shower was also small. When we left, they didn't thank us or wish us off well. They just said "ok." Like I said, the service was not great but you are still able to enjoy your time there. They do allow vendors in to set up tables for sale which can be annoying. There were people from all over the place with different languages, very diverse. Shows at night were kind of lame. There were a lot of kids there, but they don't get in the way of anything. It was just my wife and I, and we weren't bothered by the kids. Most hang out by the pool and we were on the beach most of the days. We requested the family room expecting that the bedroom would be separate from the living area but, this was not the case the family room just has a King bed with a large sofa bed. The beach was very beautiful however the ocean was a bit rough not sure if this was caused by the motor boats used for parasailing. The hotel was not in an area that I would feel safe walking around and there was nothing to do outside of the complex. . There is a $10 USD charge at the Punta Cana airport for all vistors. Everything is maintained to a cleanliness of a 5-star, you feel incredibly safe in your room with the door/balcony locks and safe in the closet, and the walk to the beach is less than 3 minutes. The view of all […] the bungalos is incredibly welcoming with all the gorgeous trees, freshly cut grass and neatly paved pathways. The room was LARGE, with 2 full beds merged together, a couch, a tv, closet, enormous mirror, drawer and a bathroom. Not to mention there are FOUR different self-serve hard-alcohol dispensers in your room, unlimited-supply. All the drinks in your fridge too are free-of-charge with every refill, but are just every 2 days. The dining services exceeded my expectations in their variety of food and restaurants. breakfast in the colonial dining hall was the best. Specialty restaurants (make reservations) are habatchi, steak house and italian. I had the most incredible beef at the italian place. There were nightly shows and events, and daytime pool activities, where you could really see the hotel staff working hard to always keep you entertained and happy. The shows are the GREATEST, but that's when you can hop to the next hotel to see if their show is any better. This trip for me was perfect. The resort is beautiful. It right near the beach very clean and has a cozy feel to it. However, there were a few issues. There was a plumbing problems. One night there was no water for about an hour or two. The next night our toilet back up and over flowed but maintenance came right away. Food was good, it seemed to improve daily.
