We were worried about train noise being so close to the tracks and upon check in asked for a room away from the tracks only to be told of course that it would be extra charge. We were then assured that the windows were 'sound proof'... Apparently the staff have not spent a night in one of their rooms - it's ok during the day with other ambient noise […] around, the trains kind of blend into the background... But at night in the quiet - they sound like they are running over your head! Window not sound proof (or thin walls)! But honestly, I could have forgiven the train noise due to being close to the station - but in the end, train noise was not the biggest noise issue! We stayed on level 4 and had floating floorboards, as did we found out our upstairs neighbors... Whenever they moved anything across the floor, which they did regularly, we were blessed with an almighty screetch - early morning, and very late at night. Then there was the sound of a 500 meter high waterfall every time the upstairs neighbour, or either side neighbors had a shower... Not to mention all of noise from the foyer, you could hear everything - people entering and exiting their rooms, footsteps, people using the stairs, room service banging about!! It was awful. I've never experienced a room with such bad sound issues. It's a shame because other than sound, it was a lovely room. But avoid if you like a nice sleep. Skaityti daugiau

We stay for one night as part of return journey from Easter holiday. Staff were helpful and keen to help in any way. Sudly we have to leve early in the morning so did not have chance to have breakfast.

It's easy to find the hotel from Salzburg Bahnhof, and the congress and Mirabell Palace are nearby. But the price is a little high if comparing with other hotels, and floor cleanness is bad in the room, it can't be a 4-star hotel from it's overall condition.

Excellently sited hotel. Walking distancto staion and old town, Direct bus to Salzburg Airport and Arena. Very comfortable, will definately stay there next time we're in Salzburg.

great room, very clean and friendly staff. Has its own restaurant and serves a great breakfast. If you didn't book the room with breakfast it can get quite expensive ($15.00/person) and parking is pretty bad in the area. If you use the small parking lot the hotel keeps nearby, it will cost you another $14.00 per day. We got a very large room for the family. The maid was very friendly, as was the staff. We had to walk to another hotel to get our Salzburg card though. Other than that, it was a good place to stay for the value and location.

i have stay there 4 nights its close to trainstation but i am not able to sleep there becasue of noise from heating system and train station. hotel customer service is very bad hotel staff charges extra such as salzburg city which not explain when i book this trip. i am not recommened anyone this hotel because of customer service and noise .

Outstanding hotel. It was located in a nice part of town and I had access to public transportation. The restaurant had a good variety of foods for breakfast, and there was plenty of German food to eat, which I was looking for.

Only one issue, inside of kettle was fairly disgusting. Not huge drinkers of coffee/tea so didn't offend us too much.

Did not start well book a room for three of us and only two beds in the room but staff were very quick to sort this out

The hotel itself was very flash and the reception staff were friendly and informative but the room was not cleaned well. We were left two cups, one was chipped and cracked. I left it out to be changed, the cleaner took it away, did not replace it and left the second one unwashed. The tea and coffee was never replaced or topped up. We paid a fairly high price for this hotel because we wanted to ensure comfort as it was the beginning of our trip. The staff was amazingly friendly and knowledgable. The room was spotless and the hotel felt very well maintained. It is unlike the Sheratons that I have stayed at around the US and in Canada, as obviously it was in Europe and the room […] was smaller. However, it was quite roomy comparred to other hotels that I have stayed at in Europe. The mattress was very comfortable and all the amenities were available. The valet parking was excellent as finding parking in Zurich can be quite challenging. It was a bit of a walk to the main shopping and restaurant districts but a very short walk to the water. It was very quiet and relaxing. There was free WIFI available in the lobby which was lovely. However, for some reason my iPhone could not connect to it, but my iPad could. They have computers free of charge but did not work very well! One would not allow me on Hotmail and the other took close to 2 minutes to load up an email(not exaggerating this time at all). If you have a wireless device, I highly recommend bringing it. We made the staff aware of the computer issues and they said that it has happened in the past and they would get in contact with the IT department immediately. Not enough room to put two suitcases , one had to be out above the cupboard, comfortable beds easy walk from train station and walk to the old town. Breakfast wasnt included in our rate , good breakfast across road at coffee to go. Convenient, one of cheaper hotels

Great hotel in convienient location, 5 minutes from main railway station and 15 minutes to the city center through beatiful Mirabel gardens. Excellent service, clean and large rooms. Good restaurant on the first floor.

Hotel is located close to train station, a plus for those traveling by train. It was clean and comfortable. The restaurant located in the hotel was excellent. Would recommend the hotel and restaurant.

This is just a room. Don't expect luxury, even though the front desk staff are very friendly and helpful. The staff really are the best thing about this hotel. It's a non-smoking hotel, but the smell of cigarette smoke was pervasive in all the common areas - likely because of the smokey attached restaurant (which is very good by the way if you don't […] mind the smoke). No air circulation in our room. We had to leave the windows open so we wouldn't bake. Hotel is near the train station, but believe me, that is not where you want to be in Salzburg. You want to be in the old town. It's about a 20-minute walk (if you're fast) from this hotel to the action, shopping and restaurants of the old town. Ok hotel - trains are deafening if you have the windows open. Rooms could use some updating but are clean and well kept. Easy access to the train station and sights. Basically cheaply priced hotels are priced that way for a reason ! Skip the wildly overpriced breakfast and go find a bakery.. . .restaurant was just ok. I would consider staying again […] on the more expensive/quieter side of the hotel. The staff seemed helpful but I didn't require any assistance either. Would recommend if you are on a budget. ... or arriving late and don't want to wander the streets looking for your hotel. . . . If you are high maintenance this will not be the place for you. This is a very good hotel, they even supply a kettle and sachets of coffee and tea free of charge, there is also small fridge, and by the way they have a safety deposit box free of charge, fantastic.

Staff was very nice and helpful. We were able to book a tour through them and they arranged to have the tour guide pick us up in the lobby and were able to hold our bags while we were away. Plus free internet! My only gripe is that the information in the room said that breakfast was complimentary but when we filled our plates at the buffet and sat […] down they asked our room number then told us we had to pay. The room was way too hot, but, because the hotel is right neaqr the train station, you could not cool the room by opening the window, since the noise would keep you awake. The bed was like a rock, but the staff very helpfully supplied a foam pad, which helped slightly. All the food in the restaurant was so salty as to be inedible; we found good food […] a few blocks away at the Pitter restaurant. The staff was generally helpful, doing such things as locating a bandaid and printing out my boarding pass for the return trip. A minor point of deception: the hotel's website said that breakfast was included in the room charge. Expedia did not give me any documentaiton to suggest that the discounted room I booked through them would not include the breakfast. The charge for the breakfast, which I wound up paying to save time before conference sessions, negated any savings I made by booking through Expedia. The Best Western Stieglbrau in Salzburg is overall a good hotel. I stayed in a single room, which consisted of a twin bed, a desk, and a TV, with a very nice bathroom. The room was made up nicely for me everyday, and the staff at the hotel was always very nice and willing to help. The restaurant was nice as well, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner […] for affordable prices. This is a hotel without any frills, and for those looking for an economical deal, it is a good one. best way to get to hotel is by taxi, which was reasonable. Train station is 10 minutes walking distance to hotel. Grocery stores and shopping is easy walking. visiting th sights are walking distance. Staff at hotel are tourist trained and able to answer all tourist questions. Hotel conveniently located by the train station and not far from the city centre,however that means railways are close to the hotel so you need good earplugs or you'll learn whole timetable of night trains by heart after two days of staying there.Also it is high time to think about refurbishment cause carpets,walls and bathroom call for it.

This hotel is a short taxi ride (approx. 7 Euros) from the train station and minutes to the Old Town. It is traditionally furnished. Street noise is audible from our street facing room at night. I suggest requesting a non-street facing room. Our daughter had a single room at the back leading to a pleasant patio. I would recommend this hotel to people visiting Salszburg as it combines the standard amenities of a US hotel (space, decor, amenities) and decent location. The hotel is located a short 5 minute walk from the train station. It is close to many places you can find decent food or groceries. This hotel sits on the bahnhof and is very noisy, when we asked to change to a quieter room, the front desk clerk said " it's a city after all". Good thing we brought ear plugs. Otherwise, the room was okay. At check out, when we were rushing out the door to catch our train, apparently, our prepaid room that included tax did not cover the "Salzburg […] tax". This 4.1 euro charge would not have been big a deal if they told us about it at check in but when in a hurry, this is not what you want to deal with. Furthermore, the room clerk refused to allow us to put it on our Mastercard then when given cash, protested giving us a receipt for it, stating "it is only 4.1 euros". This is not a 4 star hotel as advertise. The hotel is right across the train station so if you're a light sleeper look somewhere else. The double bed is 2 twin bed put together. The side of my bed had a crate size dent. I kept sliding in it at night. I tried telling the hotel but they just could not understand or just did not care. We had a family room […] so i would think it would be a bigger room but no. Barely any room to move around. The bath area was filled w/ MOLD!!! Me and my family along w/ our friend was so uncomfortable we only spent one night even though we paid for 2 nights. We went ahead and drove 4 hours back home in the middle of night. My friend and I slept better in the car than in the hotel. I also did not want my family especially my child to use the moldy bathroom. Second time we've stayed here. Rooms are big enough, just, and are spotless clean but are just starting to show there age with wear and tear. Breakfast was standard fair with ham cheese a couple of hot things etc but very fresh. One incident of a waiter standing infront of one of our party halfway through breakfast and insisting he pay for breakfast […] there and then infront of everyone rather than put it on his room like we all did embarrassed us and sourered our stay however. Its around 10 minutes walk out of the old town one direction and 10 minutes from the trainstation the other. Airport bus stop is outside reception. Very comfortable and nice room. They had tea/coffee bags and sugars in the room, but no kettle. Checked with the reception, but they didn't have kettles there either, which was a disappointment.

Very small, worn room, dirty carpet with holes in it, bath towels & linens appeared to be clean however didn't smell fresh. Room not cleaned well before check-in. Hair in tub, dirty shower curtain, dirty mirror, water on bathroom floor, could go on & on. 3 of 6 light bulbs burned out, went to front desk they only had 1 bulb & we had to put it in ourselves. […] Remote control didn't work, springs coming through roll a way bed, view of metal roof in rear of building. Talked to the manager about the dirty room, she said, oh you want a deep clean? I would think in between guests they would do a deep clean. Should have not expected much because when we got off the elevator to go to our room, dirty sheets & towels were piled on the floor next to the elevator & were piled very high. This should have been our first clue. I guess I can't complain though, this is the only hotel I would not recommend out of the 9 others I stayed in during my European trip. The hotel was in a convenient location, close to the railway station on the bus route from the airport and only a 5 minute walk to Mirabelle Gardens, and 20minutes to the Old Town. The room was spacious, but the airconditioning barely worked at all, resulting in a restless night because it was too hot, and we couldn't leave the windows open due to being […] on a busy main road and right next to the train tracks. it was only a one night stay, so not a major problem to lose some sleep, but if it had been longer we may have had to complain a little.
