Always love staying here! Great location always clean and friendly staff! My go to hotel when I'm in the San Jose area. Plus iguana's taqueria is just few blocks.

We had a great time at the hotel, it was very close to the HP Pavilion for the UFC fights and we even saw a lot of the fighters at the hotel which was awesome! But it took forever for the hotel elevators to get to us, the pillows were uncomfortable and uneven and the parking valet almost ruined my boyfriend's car because he does not know how to drive […] stick shift. We stayed just one night to attend a robotics competition at SJSU. The hotel was lovely. Although we had booked a room with 2 beds, we were assigned a king bed. I was traveling alone for a business trip and felt safe the entire time. This hotel was close to my work venue and while a bit expensive, the room service was delicious, so I didn't have to worry about getting around alone at night.

Our stay was fine, once the hotel replaced our coffee maker and broken chair. If you have small children, you should request that your room be a "no call." They almost woke up our three month old twice with their obnoxiously loud phone.

Great centralized place to stay for any event at the San Jose Convention Center. We were in town for a volleyball tournament and during our down time we were able to walk to restaurants, movie theater, shops and grocery store. Hotel is very clean and comfortable and employees helpful and friendly.

The worst! I was not told about a "furry convention"that was taking place during our stay. The hotel was over run with strange behaved people dressed up as animals who talked about taking drugs while we were riding the elevator. Not appropriate to have my daughter subjected to this during our stay. When complained to the hotel manager I was told there […] was nothing they could do to accommodate me. We had a great experience. This was a father and son two night stay for a school band event. The hotel was modern, clean and well maintained, with a location near to San Jose State and the Convention Center. We'd definitely stay there again. Dad got a bad cold during the trip, and the hotel staff, who were already very prompt and professional, went […] out of their way to help. When a cold-induced fog led me to leave something I needed in my car, which was parked with the valet, someone from the valet's desk quickly ran to the garage and got it out of the car for me. When the same cold-induced fog led me to leave behind my son's athletic shoes with his expensive, custom orthodics on check out, a call to the front desk got me connected with security, who promptly located the shoes, and returned them to us via Federal Express. The lobby area, which is spacious and well appointed, with lots of comfortable seating, got a bit loud in the evenings from the lounge, but we were on a high enough floor that we had no noise at all, including street noise. My only two very minor knocks is that it is easy to miss the entrance as you turn onto South Market (I didn't even realize it was a Marriott until I'd almost passed the building) and the that the quality of room service food was at best average (though the staff that delivered the food were wonderful and the orders correct). This hotel was not nearly prepared at all for capacity which doesn't make sense considering it was booked full months in advance. Parking was terrible waiting forever made us not want to use our car to enjoy the city. Twenty minute waits for the elevator both ways made it an inconvenience to stay. Staff was less than helpful, we paid for the "stay for […] breakfast package and no one knew what to do with it. I will not be staying here again. 2 hour wait for room service you have to be kidding me. If you know what's coming you should be much more prepared at the rates you are charging. It was awesome. The only down-sides were that we were there for a very large event which seemed to overwhelm the elevator service. There were only 4 elevators for a 26-story hotel and they had to accommodate hundreds of people, so the waits were very long. One other small problem was that we got one very dirty fork in the restaurant and the omelettes […] were not as good as at another hotel chain I regularly use and the price for the buffet was quite high (higher than listed in the online info). It is also annoying that the business center makes you give a refundable credit card deposit to use the computers. Even so, I would totally recommend the hotel. Stayed at this hotel while attending a conference that was held here. All staff at this hotel was friendly and helpful. The room and washroom were very clean and well stocked with tea and coffee. The workspace had plenty of outlets to recharge personal devices or run my laptop. The extra charge for Wifi Internet access was not too high and response […] time was excellent. Our company reserved a boardroom to meet and provide private consultations with and for some of our clients. The catering services were excellent... breakfast was on time and good... and the room was impressive. Hotel room Internet access paid in the rooms is not accessible in the conference room which was a disappointment. Fortunately, our mobile hotspot worked fine and the meeting achieved its goals. I booked a double twin, when I checked in the hotel tried to force a single king room on me. I was staying with a colleague so that was not acceptable. After 30 minutes of waiting at the service counter, we finally got the room that we paid for. Not sure why that was so hard. This was a first for me.

When we checked-in, we asked for a 2-singlebed room; but when we entered the room; we got a king bed. We called for a change to a 2-bed room. We got upgraded to a junior suite without any extra charge!

I am used to a certain quality at a Marriotts and this was not up to the normal standards.The room was very small and the bathroom did not have space for my toiletries. Something that I found really strange was that the mirrored closet doors were right where the bathroom door slides open. The bedroom curtain had holes in it. I had a problem with parking. […] Expedia checked for me that as handicapped, I would have free parking but when I got there the staff said that it only applied to self parking. I went to the parking area that they gave me directions to but the people who ran the garage said that Marriotts did not have parking there and it would be a $20 fee to park. i returned to Marriotts and asked for a manager. They ended up comping me valet parking but the whole adventure really added to my stress and then finding a below standard room was very disappointing. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. This was an overnight stay for business and pleasure. I brought my wife and two young children along. I worked and they had a blast at the hot tub and pool. The only options I would have preferred: a room choice w/ two queens (we had two doubles), and a fridge in the room. Kids like to graze and we'd like to have a place to put our own drinks, snacks […] and leftovers. The pool is an outdoor pool (it's California afterall), and while the water was warm, when the wind kicked up, it was quite breezy and chilly. Beautiful hotel. Reasonably priced food choices. Not as close to other restaurants as I was hoping as it was raining during my stay so it was more convenient to just eat at hotel. By the time I went to the steakhouse for dinner they had already stopped taking reservations, but it was only around 7:30--thankfully I could sit at the bar and order from […] the full menu. I had to take a taxi back to airport. I asked the man who opened the door for me, who was the bellman or valet guy how I can get a taxi. He only pointed me in the direction. Annoyingly, the Marriott San Jose blocks access to SJ's "Free Downtown WiFi" from hotel guest rooms. A Marriott front desk clerk acknowledged the free WiFi blocking policy and encouraged me to comment in the hotel guest survey since management has been unresponsive. She noted free access IS available in the lobby...or outside in Plaza de Cesar Chavez […] park. Google: "press release san jose free downtown wifi" touting benefits to the community and visitors. Marriott's valet-only parking policy is similarly deceptive. Valet parks your car in the PUBLIC, Convention Center garage connected to the hotel for a generous daily fee. Marriott provides no guest access to the garage. Surprisingly the huge public garage, literally next door to the hotel entrance, has no visible signage on the street. Odd, considering the SJ Mercury News' characterization of the chronically deficit plagued San Jose city budget. Except for the glacially slow coffee service in the Marriott-operated, lobby Starbucks, Marriott employees were generally clean, courteous and responsive; a miracle considering the deceptive operating policies management has saddled them with.
