Stayed 3 days with my mother. The hotel was literally right by the metro. The hotel was cute. The rooms were clean but they need to fix the wallpaper in the bathroom around the shower. Otherwise great price and staff was helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

We were very pleased with our stay at le 55 Montparnasse Hôtel. The room was snug but the comfort level of the bed was above average compared to what we've experienced in other European hotels. And I'll take a comfortable bed over a spacious room! A lovely hotel. Basic but modern and fresh. Room was clean, quiet and extremely comfortable. Staff were helpful when required. Located right next to a Metro station 10-15 mins from the centre. In the Montparnasse area which is nicer if you want to see some 'more authentic' Paris where more locals frequent the bars and restaurants than in the tourist […] trap of the centre. We really enjoyed our stay. The location was great, in a lively neighbourhood, within a couple of hundred metres of the Metro and easy to walk into central areas. The room was bigger than we had expected (after reading a number of other reviews) and we had requested a king-size bed, which we were given. Everything was clean when we arrived, and cleaned […] daily to a good standard. The only downside was that there did not appear to be a bar in the hotel, which we would have appreciated one snowy night after a long day of sightseeing. Great hotel. We barely spent more than 6 hours here, but the staff was very helpful at checking us out at 3am and arranging the shuttle to the airport as our international flight was at 7am. Excellent location - Bang opposite a Metro station and never took us more than 10-15 minutes to any of the sights. On a very lively street with many cafes, restaurants and shops in the immediate vicinity. Felt safe even late at night. Service - The reception was staffed round the clock and good prompt response to the (few) requests that we had. They […] had a system in place to correctly identify and store luggage after checkout. Check in/out was a breeze and took little more than a minute. Room - The room (we booked a standard one) was decently sized by Paris standards and neat and tidy. Lots of plug-points. Bathroom comes with a full size bath. Nice full size window. Sleep - We didn't sleep very well. The sound insulation is absolutely minimal and all night you can hear the following at regular intervals - the metro passing underneath (my wife didn't though), people using the bathroom in adjoining rooms, people going in/out of their rooms and other random going-ons in rooms nearby. Conclusion - All said and done, I'd stay at this hotel again because it was excellent value, great location and excellent restaurants/cafes/bars within walking distance in a nice safe neighborhood. My wife and I wanted to stay in Montparnasse and circulate in Paris by metro area but away from the busy places. The 55 Montparnasse is nicely located at 50 meters from the Pernety metro station of line 13, three staions away from Montparnasse metro-railway hub and surrounding shopping, movies and restaurants. We felt the hotel was well maintained and […] serviced. The queen size bed was comfortable and the btahroom clean and functional. The only minus is the small size of our room which may not accommodate travelers with lots of baggage. There is no storage so you have to keep sorting your clothing in your luggage. We wanted to keep our photo equipment in a safe, by the reception was unable to offer any, telling us the room was safe enough...? Which we did and fortunately had no problem. The hotel is adjacent to Rue Losserant, a typical Parisian one way street with lots of shops, bakeries, cafes and affordable restaurants where we did not see many tourists. We took our breakfast and twice diner at the Metro 14, a typical brasserie located just of the Pernety metro exit. All in all, we found the 55 Montparnasse a good value, and a convenient place for people eager to experience a stay away from the main tourist places and willing to use a bit of french language. Travelled with family, 2 adults, 2 kids, 2 rooms. Right next door to Metro and nice boulangerie. Neighborhood nice for couples with nearby bistros and such, more locals than tourists. Rooms very small and difficult to move around in if you bring luggage. Rooms had no Air Conditioning (how did I miss this when booking?), but did have very large and loud […] fans in each room. Good overall experience though, once you get settled. Boulangerie great place to start the day before boarding the Metro. Front Desk staff very helpful regarding sightseeing, Metro, etcetera. We enjoyed our 4 night stay. It is a typical 3 star hotel, recently renovated. Room and bathroom are fully ok, but not luxurious (fully adequate for 3 stars). Service is friendly and adequate. The location is in Montparnasse, not very close to the central sights - but it is a 1 minute walk away from a metro station. Internet is free. The neighborhood […] is very nice - typical Parisian, but not touristy. Several nice restaurants are within 5 minute walk. About 20 minutes from Gare de Nord but value for the size and nature of hotel. Clean, and a minute from a Metro station. Head behind the hotel into the local district for better food and shops and breakfast. All in all we would stay again.

Very pleasant and interesting neighborhood, and about 50m from a Metro stop(Pernety). The rooms were quite inconvenient, partly because of the size. The bathroom in particular was a challenge because it was so small and poorly arranged. My husband and I are both quite small, anyone more amply built would need a shoe horn to get into and out of the […] shower. A lot of the hardware and equipment did not work well (the shower again) and the bathroom door, stuck closed. A small hotel very near the Metro (Pernacy) which is in a village atmosphere setting with restaurants & cafes nearby.The room is "adequate" and clean (with no fridge for your wine/drinks) but its in a noisy area with bars open and students around til the small hours. Having asked Expedia for a hotel in Paris with one family room for 2 adults and 2 children plus one double room I was surprised on arrival at the hotel to be presented with a selection of four double rooms for six people. There are no four person family rooms in this hotel but the family offer gives two rooms on one floor, which is not satisfactory […] for small children. Great little hotel metres from Pernete metro station. Whilst the hotel is fairly basic, it had one of the most comfortable beds of any hotel I have stayed in. However, the main selling point of this hotel is its location in a fantastic Parisian suburb with loads of great little bars, restaurants and shops. The rooms are quite small and the lack of air conditioning was rather unpleasant. The electric fan provided with the room helped a bit, but was noisy. I also found the front desk personnel to be abrupt and not terribly friendly or helpful. Overall, I consider this a no frills hotel that is close to a Metro station, and upstairs from a nice bakery.

Our second stay at this hotel was just as good as the first - clean, comfortable and very friendly. Excellent value for money in a great location. Breakfast also great for €10! stayed in a number of hotels in Paris and this is by far the best. Enjoy!

The rooms are small but clean and the bed is very comfortable. The location is convenient for it is just right next to a metro station with nice bakeries & eateries, although it might feel a bit uneasy at night. We're not too happy that the hotel published their rooms as soundproofed while in reality, we can hear everything that's been said next door. […] We booked our room for double occupancy but was only given a set of toiletries/towels. Despite feedback to the reception, the room cleaning lady never made an amendment to her error and we constantly have to ask for towel from reception. No outside food/drink is allowed in room even though the hotel has vending machine selling coffee/drinks in lobby. For the price, I'd say it's ok but I don't think we'll be going back again. My wife and I found the le 55 Montparnasse Hotel to work very well for us. The closeness of the metro stop was very handy -- hardly more than 100 yards from the hotel. There are several restaurants in the neighborhood. We ate at four of them over our one week stay. There is a fresh fruit business across the street. The hotel website says that it offers […] laundry services, but that didn't seem to be the case for us. There is a dry cleaning business a few blocks away. They took care of my needs for a reasonable price. A nice grocery store is three blocks from the hotel. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. We appeared to get something of a room upgrade (an additional bed) which meant we had more space than we'd anticipated - I'd heard the rooms in Paris were small. This small hotel is clean and located across from the Metro. Greengrocers, bakeries and other small shops abound in the neighborhood as do several very good restaurants. This is our second stay of at least 10 days in this hotel and we like it even better than the first time.
