Adderley Hotel - Keiptaunas

I booked last minute as I was attending a meeting in Cape Town not too far away. I arrived at the hotel at 21h30, checked in and inquired if the restaurant was still open as I didn't have dinner yet. Reception told me that the restaurant was open until 22h00 and I was still in time. I dropped of my suitcase and went straight to the restaurant. Their […] was only one staff member there, who told me that the chef and staff when home already and that kitchen is closed. I than enquired about room service and they also told me that this wasn't possible either as the chef is gone. For a 4 star hotel, which targets mostly business people, one expects a certain level of service. I had to get a taxi to go search for restaurant, which costs me quite a bit, but one doesn't have a choice as there are not restaurants around and walking at night at downtown Cape Town is not an option either. If you are not sure when you will check in and it maybe a bit later, than rather book a hotel where you assured that you can at least order room service, even if it's just a sandwich. Great value 4* hotel with spacious rooms. Exceptional service from front desk staff, always pleasant and eager to help. Good central location. Hotel is on busy street. I didn't get the opportunity to eat in, so cannot comment on this aspect.

Booked into the Adderley for 3 nights following a recommendation from a friend. Internet reviews were favourable and price was very competitive. I was not disappointed. The hotel was amazing, but we made the huge mistake of having dinner there. As a starter we had a spring role which was warm outside and frozen inside. The vegetable we had as side dishes were cold as well. And the meat was terrible. We can only recommend the hotel, but do not eat there, go anywhere else, there is enough choice around you.

We were on the 4th floor, our room was upgraded and we were thrilled with the facilities, the rooms were modern, very clean, spacious and comfortable. Staff were helpful and courteous. Great value. One small point to note is the mat on the street in front of the hotel should be cleaned, or checked regularly. It was not a good first impression to arrive […] and see cigarette butts and rubbish on the mat advertising Adderley Hotel. Fortunately the rest of the hotel experience more than made up for it. The staff was always friendly and willing to help. The room was very spacious and clean. Had a wonderful stay and the experience was beyond expectation. The hotel is based in a beautiful old building, which has very large space, I stayed in a luxury room which had a separate lounge and kitchenette, even a guest loo! The room was comfortable, and I particularly enjoyed the bath in the room vibe. Its about 2 blocks away from the Infamous Long Street, and a couple of metres away from the lovely coffee […] shops on Green Market Lane. Definitely would stay again. Overall an O.K experience, stayed to visit friends at UCT, location is near Long Street and close to the train station for easy trips in and out of the city center. In terms of safety, the front door is almost always wide open and anyone can walk in off the street. Waiting for the elevator I witnessed a man walk in and attempt to steal a woman's passport […] while she was checking in, and the woman at reception managed to scare him off. As soon as I checked in, the bathroom in the living room area smelled like raw sewage and I requested to have it fixed immediately or change rooms - but the hotel was booked up. The manager fixed it the next day, but the smell would come back every day after they fixed it. I ended up keeping the door closed to the bathroom so that the odor would not seep into the living room but for a four star hotel this is not acceptable. We were visiting Cape Town with another couple and all of us were happy with our choice! Great hotel, friendly, helpful staff.. We went to the local grocery nearby (downstairs of woolworths) and had breakfast in the room each day....the rooms are like little apartments! The Adderley Hotel Staff were very warm and helpful and made my Cape Town experience a very happy one. The Hotel is located near all the sights like the Company's Gardens, the Castle, Greenmarket Square, St George Mall, Long Street, Bo Kap, the Train and Metro Station and near the Hop/On Hop Off Tourist City Bus route. V& A Waterfront can be accessed […] by a short taxi ride. We stayed at the Adderley for 5 nights. On arrival, the room we had been allocated had issues with the plumbing and we insisted that we be moved to another room. After a bit of checking, they put us in an upgraded room which was perfect in every way. The staff were helpful throughout and went out of their way to ensure we had a very comfortable stay. […] The hotel is convenient for most city sights by foot although come sundown, the area looks decidedly dodgy. The Adderley has allocated parking spaces in a multi-storey car park which can be accessed direct from the hotel. For the money expended this hotel exceeded my expectations for my ten day stay. Large comfortable room, great shower with adjustable massaging shower head and always lots of hot water, large comfy bath towels, great king bed and linens, excellent air conditioner, room safe, refrigerator, hair dryer and always a smiling helpful face at reception. After a week on the move every day, it was lovely to have Adderley as a home to come back to for 4 nights. Very convenient location near to markets, shopping and the hop-on/hop-off bus route. Room was wonderful, allowing us to make our own breakfasts, have a relaxing bath and lounge on the couch. Great location, room very good and large - could easily stay for a while if necessary. Easy walking distance, during day, to get to all tourist places. On way back at night you might want a taxi (very reasonable) but evenings going out, walking fine.

Great room -we got upgraded to a big suite with huge bath, very clean, comfortable and all I would want from a hotel. cheap-ish wifi too.only thing I'd say is that the neighbourhood wasn't the best, as is the case with most of Cape Town, but as we just drove straight into car park attached to hotel it didn't matter.

The hotel is well situated near long street and all the things in the center of Cape town. The neighbourhood is safe and clean and hotel itself is good. In the top of the hotel there is a small but nice swimming pool.

Great place to stay if you want to be in the Cape Town City Bowl. The luxury suite was enormous - 2 big rooms, full and guest bathroom, well outfitted kitchen, huge tub, nice shower. The staff was friendly and helpful.

It was a lovely hotel and centrally located. The rooms wer large and roomy and very comfortable. We had just one small mishap where we not informed that we had to park in slots allocated to the Adderley hotel. We parked in an unreserved bay and got clamped. However, this was rectified by the hotel who deducted the clamping ticket from the bill. The Adderley is a great little funky hotel. The front desk staff and manager went out of their way to help us rent a car, buy a cell phone, plan day trips. Having a kitchenette was great. We used it quite a lot. The pool is a wading pool, no laps, but refreshing. I would definitely stay there again.

This must be the best kept secret of Cape Town, thye Hotel is newly renovated and they have made stunning rooms with lots of space. Work area, sitting area great bathroom, it is super and very reasonable priced, I will be coming back.

Over all the hotel was okay. Cons: The room doesn't exactly look like the pictures. Some of the hardwood flooring did not look complete. When I arrived the room type that I requested was not available so I they had to change my room. The room was a little warm. The staff was not really knowledgeable about things to do. You have to pay for Wi-Fi, to […] use the phone, and parking. (There is a really nice Sushi bar on Long Street...near Mama Africa that will allow you to use Wi-Fi if you are a customer). Pros: The price is excellent. Parking is in a garage, so you don't have to park on the street and it is central enough that you can walk to many attractions. The location is within walking distance of Long Street and many nice restaurants and Greensmarket. Also, the Victoria and Albert Waterfront and Table Mountain are only a short drive. The hotel sits about 1 block from the House of Parliament. There is a really nice garden (Company Garden) across from the House of Parliament. My wife and I just got back after staying here for 2 weeks. The location is adequate (we rented a car), but you can make it from the hotel to the waterfront for 40-50 Rand. I would definitely recommend renting a car to those that are comfortable driving stick and on the left. An alternative is to get either the city or sightseeing bus pass. There was […] an issue with internet vouchers being empty or partially used, so make sure you check the value before you start surfing. Otherwise, the service was fantastic, from breakfast staff in the morning to the Restaurant Manager allowing me to borrow a bottle opener for the duration of our stay.
