Headland Hotel - Newquay

Came to Newquay for a wedding at a hotel up the road so only did one night. Very glad we did. The Hotel gave us the use of a holiday cottage to get ready in as we were too early to check in. (They look really great too!) While we were at the wedding they moved our stuff into our room. They had upgraded us to a Family suite overlooking Fistral Beach. […] Breakfast was delicious. Stayed for 2 nights late May. Really couldn't find fault with anything. Food great. Service great. Nothing too much trouble. Will definitely stay again.

great stay with dog and my daughter aged 10, great service, animal friendly , lovely little pool area, food was superb . Service was great , hotel the best around .

Beautiful, cozy, old hotel in a perfect setting overlooking Fistral Beach. We booked a courtyard room, which was the cheapest possible and probably got what we paid for - a very small room with windows facing walls. English breakfast was good but make sure to order from the menu (also included), the English buffet was bland and nothing to write home […] about. The newly built spa is beautiful and such a nice treat on a windy "spring" day. Only minus is that children are allowed from 7:30am-7pm which made for a lot of noise and splashing - and not exactly the "relaxing and indulging experience" the hotel is promoting. Skaityti daugiau

Having stayed in Newquay on numerous occassions over the last 40 years, I was very much looking forward to staying at Newquay's premier hotel, the Headland. The hotel itself is of a good standard but the rooms overlooking the quadrangle are quite depressing, having no view whatsoever. They are of course cheaper than rooms with a view and it is my fault […] for not picking up that we would not have a view when booking, but I was expecting at least a car park view. The grand staircase and lobby areas lack natural daylight and could do with more appropriate lighting to cheer them up. Staff were very pleasant but on both occasions I ordered breakfast, which itself was lovely, I did not actually get what I ordered. Very enjoyable, unfortunately my brother was unable to travel as no trains could travel past Taunton due to flooding. He lives in London. We lost the money for the room and their company. the hotel was very nice and the room was lovely and warm as it was pretty awful outside, was not sure if we would make it home due to the weather. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed a five day break at the Headland, still remember it from seeing 'The Witches'! Lovely hotel with excellent staff who cannot do enough for the guests. Great to see a hotel that is not a 'carbon copy' of every other and actually provide service to the guests.

We were given a very warm greeting and tour of the hotel when we arrived. The building itself if magnificent and very well kept up to and the relatively new leisure facilities are of exceptionally high quality. The food in the hotel was good and the views of the bay superb. We had a great ocean view room with a very comfortable bed. The hotels location is great right on the coast good for walks and access to the beach . The staff were very helpful and friendly

Good hotel and great location. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Things to be aware off - the hotel allows dogs so this can be a positive or negative. Unfortunately I am allergic but I didn't suffer too much! and there is a dog like smell in the communal areas. Also be aware they do have really hard and small beds(*double!!!). This may not be standard […] across the hotel so check before you book. This caused me major back problems and although I reported this to the hotel staff they did not get this issue resolved throughout my stay. The final point worth noting is to avoid the front of the hotel as your room will be facing the drive that leads to the main entrance so does infringe on you privacy. Relaxing and pampered . Friendly staff and great facilities. The dining room is top class. We were warned not to go into Newquay after dark as it is full of drunken stag nights and hen parties .

This is an extremely welcoming and comfortable hotel in the traditional style with spacious public areas. The sea views from most bedrooms and public rooms are an added feature. The breakfasts were excellent with a wide choice. Perhaps the most important attraction of the hotel was that all members of staff were most friendly and helpful.

A great position overlooking the beach and ocean. The hotel has been lovingly restored and the public and dining areas are very comfortable. a perfect location for a holiday near the superb Fistral Beach and close enough to town to walk.

Thought hotel needed updating, reception staff were great, restaurant not so good, pricey evening meal and not made clear that vegetables had to be paid for separerately, this on top of the price of a 3 course meal. My husband is 62 years old and knows when beer is off when the lines have not been cleaned properly, when he pointed this out to the barman, […] he muttered something about it having been done that morning, both beers were off He was offered another pint from the same pumps. Although we were 2 friends staying at this hotel, the hotel is perfect for families as well. Excellent service, fantastic location and views, and lots of entertainment for all ages. Loved it!

Perfect as a base to explore Cornwall. Drove one day to St. Ives and the Penwith Circle including stops at Land's End and other picturesque village. Another day drove to Boscastle and Tintagel Castle. Beautiful scenery both days with ocen views and farming landscapes.Spent a third day relaxing at the gorgeous hotel, hiking on the ocean trail and Fistral […] Beach. Nice to have a base and not have to unpack every night. Hotel dining was great, especially in The Terrace bar. Breakfast in the dining room was included in the room rate and very good. Ocean views from both dining areas was spectacular. Enjoyed swim in the indoor pool but found it too shallow (about 4 feet deep) to do aquafit exercises. This hotel is wonderful. The staff are excellent, the food magnificent and the rooms are very comfortable. Do not miss the steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and pool. All are new and well maintained. I stayed here for four nights and wish it had been longer. The hotel was very friendly and staff overall helpful. The shift covering breakfast service and the terrace on the second night of our stay were definitely not as friendly and professional as the first and third night. The problem with the bath was sorted very quickly and we would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends and stay there again.

I found the staff in the hotel very welcoming indeed and very helpful. Ideally situated for touring. Although there was refurbishment being carried out this didn't interfere with my stay. The new leisure facilities were terrific. The restaurants were both bright and airy with stunning views and the food was delicious.

One night stay on a business trip. I have stayed at a couple of other places in Newquay whilst the Headland was being refurbished and its great to be back. Excellent room, excellent service. I will try to come for a leisure break one day.

This hotel feels like its perched at the end of the world, in a good way. Its is impressive and grand. Service and welcome was excellent, food was good too, very good and reasonably priced. Room was a little misleading "with View of the Sea" is not the same as "Sea View...." But hey its was OK. Arrive after 3 hr trip, room not ready kept waiting 45 mins, no offer of refreshments. we sat in plain view, no staff made any effort to enquire as to our presence, Eventually had to approach reception to ask if our room was ready/ Another couple going through the same process had to do likewise. It was ready but they couldn't be bothered to move to […] tell us or the other guests We were informed that they were upgrading us to a ocean view from our original beach/coastal view. There's nothing better than looking at an empty sea other that watching paint dry.. The weather was dreadful ( Not the hotels fault ) We: like most of the holiday makers were fooled yet again by the incompetance of our weather forecasters who couldn't forecast the weather from the morning to the start of the afternoon. We stayed at the hotel the last week of March in glorious sunshine. The views across the bay are wonderful. The hotel is quite isolated and a good 15 minute walk into town. We walked into town for dinner and returned when it was dark. The walk down the drive to the hotel is not lit and is a bit spooky . The views from the restaurants are amazing. Watching […] the surfers as the sun goes down is breathtaking. The meals we had in the restaurant were very nice. The service was always excellent both in the evening and at breakfast. The staff are extremely polite and helpful. The room was spacious and the bathroom refitted and had under floor heating. Bliss. The only problem was the noise from the bathroom next door. We really enjoyed every aspect of our stay at the Headland.. a 'proper' Hotel with everything we could need, from warm comfortable room and delicious food .. many places in the hotel to find privacy and a wood fire to sit by. Would readily book again.

I have stayed several times at the Headland and felt a little let down on this occasion. The room was very nice but the shower did not work - a pretty fundamental flaw. Reported to reception on leaving and they said they would look into it. Rest of service and so on was as expected and as normal, but given the price I would expect a shower to work.
