May must be a down month because only a few rooms in the Shana Hotel were occupied. However, you could not tell by the service provided by the Shana staff. The front desk ladies and the bartender stood out for exemplary service, friendliness and advice on local places to visit and eat. The hotel pool and hot tub was very nice. the monkeys would wake […] you up in the morning as a rooster would. A local beach was a brief five minute walk away. The hotel was brand new and that was obvious. The staff was fine, the restaurant was okay, but nothing really stood out as amazing. For the money we spent, I would have liked a better view, nicer room, more amenities, etc.

The best part of the hotel were the people who worked there. They were all very nice and very helpful. Though the hotel is fairly new the pool area is showing a bit of wear. The day beds around the pool were rotting/falling apart. The day beds/pillows were stained and the pool towels were also dirty. The pool was also very warm (not great as it is humid […] as hell down there). The room itself was nice. The bathrooms were very nice though you had to hold the flusher for the toilet for several seconds to get it to flush. The boxes for the bathroom toiletries looks a bit beat up as if they were reused/old. To me the worst part was the mattress and pillows. The bed was very hard and my back was killing me every night leading to a bad sleep. My girlfriend didn't mind it but I guess it depends if you like a hard or soft mattress. The pillows were pretty firm too (not down). The location is nice as it is close to Manuel Antonio and just a short walk to a semi-private beach. Good views of the ocean/jungle from each room too. We were in the hotel almost by ourselves. They have two main buildings. One was completely empty. I am guessing four to five rooms were occupied in the other building. We usually had breakfast by ourselves, which was excellent (and included) by the way. It is apparent the hotel was built right at the end of the financial crisis and they are watching […] their money as some things just aren't quite finished. But, the pool area is great and the staff is very helpful. It is close to many restaurants and the area is beautiful. Lots of monkeys and iguanas all around the property. It is about a one block walk down a winding, jungle trail to get to their secluded cove/beach. If you are looking for a new, peaceful hotel then this is for you. We got this hotel as a group of 4 guys. Seeing as how it's quiet, nice, and the rooms are mostly focused around one bed, it's more of a couples hotel. The design/decor is really nice -- there's recessed lighting lining the ceilings of the rooms and the lounge + pool are quite modern. There's a more secluded beach a short walk away, but the main beaches […] will require a taxi ride. Taxis are pretty much the same price ($7-$8) whether you're going down the street or all the way to Quepos. Catching them on the street is a good way to get lower prices or to negotiate. Having them called always resulted in "fixed rates." My minor complaints would be that the main bed mattress was not very comfortable, the shower was awkward to get working and ran out of hot water the first day, and the location requires taxis (unless you want to walk up a steep, inclined, winding road without sidewalks). Unfortunately this hotel does not advertise itself as much as the others for some strange reason. The service is excellent, the rooms are clean, beautiful and very spacious. The meal we had one evening was incredible, best meal I had in Manuel Antonio. Also, it is a five minute walk to beisanz beach which is very handy!

We stayed at The Suu hotel for 7 nights and have had mixed feelings about it. Pro: 1) There was an extremely helpful and friendly stuff, especially Jorge, the manager, and Paula. They helped our family a lot, even with things which were beyond their responsibilities, such as contacting the rent-a-car company when our car got broken in the middle of […] the road from the airport to the hotel. Any of our requests regarding fixing some problems in the room have been completed quickly and accurately. 2) The cleanliness of our rooms (we had 2) were perfect. The turn-down service in the evening was another great touch. Con: 1) The hotel is new and the construction was not completed; the design is amazing, but the comfort is not. The shower door in one of the rooms on the first day didn't open, and we had to call for the staff to repair it. The TV didn't work in another room. The sliding doors to the closet got stuck in both rooms very often. 2)There were thousands of ants in one room on first day. 3)The key from the rooms often stopped working; we couldn't even get to our rooms on December 31 because the whole system was down. 4) The chef/cook at the restaurant is extremely slow; our first breakfast took 1 hour and the lunch took more than 1.5 hours, even with the diversity of the breakfast choices being very limited. 5) The road from the main building/pool to the hotel itself was very steep and had a scary feeling; it was like 60-70 degrees towards the bottom. High marks on style and friendliness of staff. Good location (if you have your own car) almost at the end off a side-street to the main road toward Manuel Antonio, close to a small beach. We encountered a number of (all minor) issues: - When we checked in, they thought the room was ready, turned out it wasn't. Instead of having us wait a few min (would […] have been no problem), they gave us another room, only to come back 10min later (after we had started unpacking) and offer us an "upgrade" to the original room. It was indeed a nicer/bigger room. I just don't understand why they didn't have us wait a few minutes instead of letting us settle into the wrong room. - There is wireless internet throughout the hotel, but the signal strength in our room was so weak that I only got a signal on my laptop when I was sitting in the hallway close to the entrance door - putting my laptop on the desk didn't work. - Water pressure in shower was inconsistent, sometimes good, sometimes poor. One morning as we were getting ready, there was no water at all for 15min, then it fortunately came back. - The big and stylish bathrooms could be more functional, for instance there were no stools or sufficient hooks close to the shower that would allow hanging towels or clothes. - The hotel rooms have no information booklets like you find in any other hotel. For any kind of information, we basically had to talk to the - very friendly - persons at the reception desk. - For breakfast, we sometimes got a napkin, sometimes not. Sometimes, the waiter remembered to come by and ask if we wanted a coffee or other refill, sometimes not. - The hotel was supposed to have a restaurant that served dinner (in the same area where breakfast is served), but there were no menus. We finally asked for one and they produced one from somewhere. Didn't look that interesting, so we never ate dinner or lunch there. - We spotted towels at the pool one day, but the next day (when we went) there were none. - Not Skaityti daugiau

The decor is hip modern white with a back drop of nature and accents of blue to compliment the sea. The hotel is situated on a steep winding road not for the faint of heights and the road is really narrow not really ideal for two cars to pass on more less a bus and a car which happens. We have a very mixed review from our stay at the SUU. We have stayed at the Parador next door and loved it. Despite some negative reviews we stayed at the SUU because we wanted the promise of simple white Modern. We got simple white and modern but it fell short afterwards. Positives, the staff was friendly if not a bit without direction, the room was […] clean. Negatives, the room had very little space for storage and we felt as though we were camping and very quickly junked up our clean sparse room with suitcases and clothes, no place to sit on the computer or places to sit at all, the internet did not work in the hotel room, all the little cute toiletry boxes in the bathroom were empty, the new modern faucets were not attached properly and wobbled, we tripped on the floor rug over and over because of curling on the edges, there is almost no view of the water from the rooms but simply looking out into trees. There is not a Spa at the SUU. It is an unfinnished space without any sign of potentially being finnished. The restaurant was a disaster. 65 percent of the menu items include Sea Bass or Shrimp in the dishes and we were informed they had neither the night of our reservation. We ordered martinis and they were out of Vodka. We ordered red wine and were told there was not any in the restaurant. We did have some delivered from a local store (after a 40 minute delay). Our server claimed he was very embarrased by this situation. I can not recommend the SUU Hotel in its current state. I hope they can get it together but at this time the project appears to be underfunded and the staff untrained to run a boutique hotel. We will not be back. Skaityti daugiau

We ended up staying at the Suu on a whim- our other logging plans did not work out. We were immediately greeted with cold towels and house made drinks upon arrival. The staff, which call themselves "butlers" go above and beyond to make hotel guests feel like royalty. We enjoyed our stay so much that we ended up booking an additional night. The Hotel rooms and pool area are nice and clean. You feel like your in a upscale atmosphere. But the sevice was not good at all. We only had three options for breakfast and we didn't know what we were getting because they didn't have menus. When your paying as much as we did you should know what your getting and how much it cost! The bar was terrible. […] They didn't even have mint after I was offered a mojito. Instead of telling me this and having me order something else the bartender attempted to make something similar and gave it to me. When he gave it to me he was appoligising for the drink before I could even try it. It was TERRIBLE and it cost about $12! Another thing. When we arrived at 10pm the concier was on his way out and told us we were lucky because he was just about to leave and we would have been able to check in. After about 930pm there usually isn't any concier even though everything in the hotel doesnt close till 10pm. Shouldn't there be someone to assist you 24hrs in any hotel anyway? Then he continued to tell us that normally we would be greeted with drinks and fruit plates to welcome us but since it was about 10pm he had to take us staight to our room. We never recieved any complamentary drinks but they didn't mind charging me for a drink I did order or drink. They say they will be there to meet your every request and even have a letter in your room reminding you of this, but they failed to meet event the most basic request. The place is spotless, the staff are charming, the food is great (the bacon at breakfast is a must-try), the pool area is beautiful...I can't say enough good stuff about this hotel. The perfect, relaxed base […] to explore beautiful Manuel Antonio. Don't come to Costa Rica expecting it to be like the US...it's not. Time is arbitrary, there are bugs and humidity (it's a jungle, in case you missed the memo), and the service culture is way more laid back. The people here are friendly (even the maintenance guys smile back at you), and they love sharing their beautiful country with you. Before booking I've read the reviews of others and can't understand and don't agree with some references. The service is impeccable. The common areas are amazing. My husband and I just got back from a 5 night stay. The hotel is only 9 months old. It really exceeded our expectations. The decor is absolutely beautiful. Everything is decorated in white with a very modern, clean feel. The service is exceptional. We were greeted kindly by name with a cold towel and tropical ice tea. All the staff went out of their […] way to make sure our stay was comfortable. We informed them we would be getting married and they offered any help we needed.The pool is nestled in the jungle and overlooks the ocean. The cabana beds are nice and the pool butler will pamper you. There is 1, open air restaurant with really good food. Marco, the Peruvian chef introduced himself and offered great dishes or will make anything you like. We requested a Peruvian dish we had in Peru and he made it for us. The hotel is at the top of the hill by the Parador so you need a car to get into town. A taxi ride is $10 halfway up the hill or all the way to the beach or into Quepos. The taxi fares can add up. We would probably rent a car to get around next time but you have to be comfortable driving up, down and around steep hills with fast taxi drivers! The hotel would call a cab for us and it would take 5 minutes. The hotel is very quiet and relaxing. We would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again. The staff was very accommodating and polite and seemed eager to help my girlfriend and I in any way that they could. The hotel had a very posh Mediterranean style to it that was in stark contrast to the local forests/jungle that surrounded it. The road getting there is windy, barely wide enough for two cars (even though buses somehow take this road), and very steep, but most of the hotels in this area are on this same road, and you have to drive it to get to the national park regardless. once […] there- the hotel is luxurious. everything is white from the walls to the sheets to the furniture. the view from the restaurant / bar area looks out over the water through the rainforest. a pack of monkeys was travelling through the trees outside my room the first morning. food is nice, but expensive (far more expensive than most restaurants in the area). we stayed here a couple of nights, then tried some cheaper options in the area. suu manuel was the best, but also the priciest. its a few minutes walk to a barely public beach. i say barely because there's no parking, and it's not clearly marked, and you have to go through the woods to get to it and when we went there were maybe 15 people total on the whole thing. good stuff. The SUU Manuel Antonio Hotel has nice energy. The staff was welcoming and very accommodating. Great choice in hotels if you have a rental car or don't mind calling for a taxi. A SUU hotel sign would be helpful to find the turnoff from the main road. The pre-arranged tours will pick you up at the hotel for a day of fun. Do yourself a favor when visiting Manuel Antonio and stay at The Suu. Everything is beautiful and it's like staying at the Four Seasons or any luxury hotel around the world. The staff is wonderful, the rooms are luxurious and there is really no greater value or beauty to be found in the surrounding area. The hotel is beautiful and very clean and tasteful. […] The pool is a dream. I was greeted in the heat of the day with a glass of tea while swimming in the pool and another time with a smoothie! At night, I was brought a dessert to my room! I just felt like at every opportunity, the staff was making sure I felt attended to and special. That is how it should be and they do a great job. The hill is no big deal as long as you are not in ailing health. I like that it is completely away from all the noise of the town. It would be a terrible to stay on the main drag. It's a great place to stay if you have a car to get around. The only thing I would recommend is that they invest in a pillow top for the bed. If you like a firm bed, it's great. The beds are brand new, so I'm sure they will soften a bit with use. This place is the only place I would ever recommend staying in Costa Rica and I have stayed 30 different places over many trips there. I felt like royalty and it was the best 2 days ever! I have a very mixed review for this property. One room was perfect, but the second room we reserved had no ac for two days. They kept saying they were working on it. This block of rooms was not ready to be rented. Others were complaining when we arrived. There were no lamps, no fridge no clock radio in room. The hotel is fantastic and the staff was […] very helpful, but these rooms were not ready.The spa advertised was not open and the hot tub was not working. The food was great and the chef would try to meet all your requests. The hotel did reimburse our friends for the inconvenience, but being w/o ac for two days was horrible. My stay at the Suu Manuel Antonio was an excellent one. There were some travel issues due to recent bad weather in the region which resulted in the main Manuel Antonio Road being closed down. My room was much larger than expected and I thought we were upgraded. The basic room has a large hot tub (not a jacuzzi), as well as a floor to ceiling glass enclosed oversized shower, both of which were great. The entire hotel was decorated in a classic white with lighting and furniture which was very trendy. You know you are staying "The Hotel" in Manuel Antonio when you are staying here. Each evening, turn down service was provided and chocolates left for our enjoyment. Their chef, Marco, was great and I will definitely return for more of his delicious food. Check-in was efficient, and the Suu's staff is very nice and attentive. My standard room was fine (albeit a bit sparse, and somewhat small). Soon after my arrival, however, I began to notice several issues. Most importantly, the hotel is brand new and not fully-functional yet, and lacking many of the amenities which are promised on the website (e.g., […] no fitness center, jacuzzi not working, WiFi not working in the room, bar not built yet, no iPod docking stations, etc.). The staff went out of its way to welcome me and try to make me feel comfortable, under the circumstances, and I believe this will be a very nice hotel when they are fully operational. El hotel está emplazado en un hermoso lugar, un poco alejado de la calle principal y su acceso solo es posible con coche- Tuvimos dificultades en encontrarlo pues no hay carteles que indiquen el camino y fue imposible darle instrucciones al GPS pues el hotel ahora se llama Pacific SUU, a pesar que todos lo conocen como Pacific Souss.
