Western Village Inn & Casino at the Marina - Sparks

It was nice to be of the mainstream of Reno. We got married the night of our stay. Our appetizers and service at The Steak House was impeccable. Parking kinda sucked--but it was the last day and drawings for a 3 month promotion. I would recommend it to anyone that doesn't want to be in downtown.

A decent hotel with good service. The only complaint is they located the designated smoking area right outside the elevator door going to the rooms, which also results in smokey hallways.

I travel, working for hotels and frequently stay at hotels I do not work for. This property was a surprise, rooms were very spacious and clean. For a "Casino hotel" it had all the amenities that you would find in a full service hotel (some casino hotels have no coffee in the rooms). Also - the employees were very polite, clean and no "over worked" attitude. […] The restaurants in the casino were also a great surprise. Dining at its finest, not some cheap buffet feeding the masses. And the prices were very reasonable for the service and menu - table side prep service, champagne sorbet between courses. Exactly what we wanted, a long walk around water, in the middle of the desert. Us west coast folks really enjoyed the effert that Sparks has done to make this area enjoyable. This hotel/ casino complex though small has great prime rib.

This is a good place to stay with a dog. Been here many times, went to the Sands a couple of times, and had to come back. Even with a pet, the rooms are a lot nicer. It's close to the Marina with a small dog park and within walking distance to the oulet stores.

The hotel accomadations are very good worth every penny of the inexpensive cost. The Casino has three restaurants which all serve excellent food in very large quantitie at a reasonable price. The Casino slot machines can be very generous.

Not a bad place at all for the price. We almost didn't book it just based on the cheap price alone, but are glad we did. The room was clean and it was a great value for a short stop through town.

We needed a comfortable room on our trip from Salt Lake City to the Pacific Coast, so this was convenient. Easily reached off the freeway, but far enough away to be quiet. This is an older motel with extensive remodeling. They seemed to run out of funds for the bathroom. The sink was nicely done in marble, but the tub and enclosure was unpleasant. In […] fact, the shower head broke off in my hand. Pretty hard to enjoy your shower when the water is blasting out of a pvc pipe like a pressure washer. Most of the place seemed clean, but the tub was a bit grungy. But the place was pretty quiet, and not too bad for a Reno hotel. We enjoyed our stay the room was clean our disappointment was our room was not cleaned as we stayed two nights so we had to call for towels and coffee. The adjoining casio ( across the parking lot) is great they give coupons two for one on meals and $25 off at the steak house. The food is wonderful with great service we will go back again.

When we arrived, we could not find the hotel lobby right away, there was no parking near the lobby/registration area in the casino. We stopped the valet employee but he was more in a hurry to run off somewhere instead of answering our question. Once we found a parking spot, we had to walk across the whole lot, to go to the front desk check in. While […] checking in I had more of the feeling of "Im really not happy to work here" instead of a "we are so happy to have you as our guests". We got our room (on the 1st floor, when I had requested the 2nd or 3rd) and we did actually find the room comfortable and the beds were cozy. Just before 6 pm, we went to make a reservation at the steak house for dinner later around 8 pm or so and they were no longer taking reservations and there was a two in a half hour wait. (We were guests at the hotel, and could not even eat at the steak house). We ended up going to another resturaunt down the street away from the casino. We gambled a little and I thought the dealer at the Black Jack table was nice and we won, so it seemed to pay well. At the bar, we felt like the bartenders really didn't want to serve us because we stood there for a long while before they came to ask us what we would like to drink. Later on that night, upon returning to our room in a non-smoking room, the whole hall way wreaked of smoke (not the cigarette kind). Back in the room the T.V had good choices of channels to watch and the room was very quiet. Made for a great night sleep. The next morning, the shower pressure was like a hose with a mister spray, not great pressure and I believe it was designed for people 5' and shorter. Being tall, I had to bend backwards like in a limbo contest to wash my hair. The night before we did eat a midnight snack at the cafe in the casino and the service was great and the food was good. My wife and I stayed with our 3 kids (including a 15 yr old, 2 yr old and newborn) and dog here. The hotel seems to be a little older, but shows signs of honest efforts to upgrade and maintain a clean and comfortable hotel. The front desk service was great and accommodating. The 'Bellini' restaurant in the casino is really good food, big portions and […] inexpensive. If you're not a big buffet eater like us this fits the bill. Loved the ammenites of the room and the quietness. The building security was a big plus for me, using the room card to enter the building keeping unwanted people out.

we have been coming to Western Village for 28 years. Great dealers, slots pay off . won two jackpots in 5 months. hotel is clean and quite and very affordable. a beatiful veiw of the marine.

looked like a run down poor casino. but the room was nice enough and bed was comfortable. you get what you pay for

I was disapointed that the shuttle did not start till 6am. When I called to check and see if they had a shuttle they told me yes and that it started at 4 am . But they did not start until 6am. I then had to call a cab and it cost me 20.dollars to the air port,I guess i won't be using the village when i have to get to the airport for my flights which […] is always at 6.30 am. whenever i fly, which is quite often. I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and comfort of the room we stayed in. It was also very quiet at night. The beds were very comfortable and the maid service was exceptional. I would stay there again if I were in the area.

Appear to be newly remodeled, nice clean rooms, flat screen TV, fridge, etc. Our only complaint is that we had to pay an additional $5.95 for wi-fi when most places these days offer it for free

Nice clean and updated look.

No kitchen or microwave as per the house keeper, internet was intermittently working.

Everyone was great and very helpful with the needs for my special needs dog. The room was beautiful it look like it had just been remodeled. Very comfortable beds, everything you would need was in the room, without having to ask for it. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we all enjoyed ourselves, and would come back again.

clean nice big rooms for the money..

Rooms were spacious and comfortable with many added items we weren't expecting (microwave, frig, hair dryer, ironing board). Would have appreciated knowing about parking available and that we had been given coupons for dinner and drinks. Didn't find the coupons until the next morning and we had eaten in the restaurant they were for.

Great room for the price, always adding improvements to the room , short walk across the parking lot to casino and restaurant.

This is the best budget minded placethat I have stayed in awhile. I have my little dog with me when I travel, so this was one of the reasons I picked this place. The rooms are clean. The bedding and matresses are clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are as clean as it gets. Having stayed in many "pet friendly" places, this place is, if not the best, […] then on of the best. Easy on-off hiway 80. Nice walking path around the lake and a dog park an easy walk away. The best part of staying here tho. THE FOOD. Very clean with convenient interstate access. Some rooms are pet friendly. Across the street from "Sparks Marina" with one mile (I think) walking path around lake. Great food and prices at casino.

I liked that we could go to our rooms and not walk through a casino with the noise and tacky lights. We also found that the coffee shop was a favoriate of the locals. It was very near Standard shops and easy to get to the Reno Air Race. Will stay there again.

Perfectly acceptable for what we needed- to stay in the Reno area to catch an early flight. Check-in was fairly quick & easy, room was pretty clean, had basic amenities, bathroom seemed a bit cramped, but fine, bed was comfortable. Nice trail adjacent to the parking lot around the marina, we had a room with a view of the marina, which was nice.

Great room, looked newly remodeled with coffee (new). Casino is a short 1 minute walk offering all casino games, great restaurant with good food, and friendly staff.

This was a very nice place to stay. Clean, reasonable prices, comfortable beds. Would definitely stay here again.

Compared to the other smaller or weekly rate motels, the Western Village is far superior in terms of cleanliness and comfort. And the quality of the room even exceeds some of the larger hotels on Virginia St near the 80 (rooms are better than Circus Circus and Sands). To star I am a 5 star hotel woman. I found for the price the hotel is excellent. It's by far not a 5 star hotel but my room was clean, customer service was great and the food in the restaurant was very good for a very low price. I would definitely stay again.

Was very impressed with the hotel & everything associated with the hotel. The room was really nice & big. I like large pillows. My husband likes thin pillows. We probably could have had his pillow changed, but didn't. It was extremely clean & the staff was great & friendly. The restaurants & casino's were great. Hotel was clean but was not smoke free. Lobby area was smoking. The whole floor should be smoke free.

Clean, quick response to requests. Bathroom did not have adequate/convenient hooks and shelves.

Apparently this is a Pepper Mill property, but well below their usual standard. Registration is in casino, with overpowering smoke. The rooms can be non-smoking, but hallways are not, and smoking rooms are next to non-smoking-with linked air systems. Loud music blares in the parking area until late night.

To begin with it took a bit to find my reservation as it was through hotels.com rather than directly with the hotel. Sadly, I was placed in a room with a view of a wall while other rooms had views of the lake or the mountains. To top things off, the cable has EXTREMELY limited. On the plus side, the casino had affordable roulette.
