River Terrace Resort & Convention Center - Gatlinburg

Overall great experience! The room was clean, and spacious. I really liked that it was within walking distance of most of the shops and other places. Great views.

Great hotel...great view. We stayed here in October and again in May 2013. Would definitely stay here again. The shower had the best water pressure ever. Only complaint would be the air conditioner wouldn't kick on when you wanted it to. It only kicked on sporadically.

My wife and I arrived at the hotel at 6pm one day after a long 9 hr ride. We went into the lobby, signed in, and got our room keys. We were in building 7 which was a very steep hike up on the hill side. (parking is available up there, but since we planned to walk to and from downtown, this was inconvenient). Our room was on the second floor and once […] we got there and unloaded our gear I tested the comfort of the bed. I was very disappointed. The mattress felt more like a box spring. There was absolutely no padding between you and the coil springs. We got settled in and cleaned up for dinner when the guests in the adjoining started into their reunion party. Before they got too rowdy we called up to front desk and asked if we could be moved and explained to them our situation. They obliged and put us into a much nicer room in building 1. The bed was more comfortable and the location much more convenient. One of the receptionist mentioned that there we 180 + rooms vacant (I am thinking why did they put us in between several rooms which were obviously booked together) As for the room in building 1 my wife mentioned to me once we got settled in, that we finally got a room that matches the expense we paid for the lodging. We stayed in one of the rooms with the spiral staircase going up to the loft bedroom with a river view. We were very impressed with the room accommodations & cleanliness. We loved that it was within walking distance to downtown Gatlinburg which is where we wanted to be! I would definitely recommend this hotel to a friend.

The hotel is in a great location, and looks nice from the outside. We stayed in Building 3 on the 6th floor, King Rive rview nonsmoking room. We had a balcony overlooking the river with 2 plastic chairs and a small table. The room had an "old, stale" smell, and a spiral staircase up to a loft area where the bed and one bathroom was. when we used the […] tub, it leaked down into the bathroom below. We called and maintenance came out and changed the ceiling tile, but I doubt they fixed the leak. Like I said it was clean except for the couch in the living area was stained and dirty. I always stay at this hotel when I travel through East Tennessee. It was a good experience as usual.

We checked in and went to our room expecting a king bed and found two queens. We called the front desk to see if a king was available, and after it first being told there was none. We got moved 3 floors up in the same building with a better veiw, king bed, 2 story room and a jacuzzi! I pays to double check !!!!

We had a wonderful stay, but walking uphill to our room was hard on the senior and the pregnant in our group. We did figure out that we could drive down the hills and park at the bottom . It was a nice hotel and the location was great because we didn't have to pay for parking like we usually do we just walked from the hotel!! The staff was very friendly. It was a great vacation overall! :)

don't be fooled by the pictures they show on the website. the hotel room isn't even attached to the main check in area. The bed was really hard. The bathroon had an old heater built into the wall that you had to turn on to heat the bathroom with. You could hear the other people in the room. Overall very pleased with the location and price. The rooms were quite large each with an excellent view. Our only major complaint was that we had only one night of hot water of the four days we stayed. They said they worked on it to no avail. We even alternated what time we took showers as to avoid times when others would be taki.g theirs. It was nice but not exactly like the picture I seen. It did not have a couch in the room. You could tell where it was suppose to be, but we did not have one in our room. My mom said her bed was not change and it was suppose to be change every two days. I loved the balcony!! It was nice.

The hotel was older, but well maintained and comfortable. The front desk was pleasant. Very good location in town. Our room overlooked the river and was very pleasant. Beds and pillows in the room were comfortable to the touch, but we always travel with our own pillows. Dinner at the attached restaurant was terrible ... long wait (over an hour) for […] food, poor quality food (over cooked, thin steak, under cooked medium steak, cold kids chicken fingers) and expensive. The room was a little worn. It looked like they decided to throw a sofa (sleeper) in the room so the room would sleep four, but it was unlikely it could be utilized. There was no where to plug in a three prong plug for computers. The staff was nice, but the maid service decided to clean our room in spite of the Do Not Disturb sign (which they thoughtfully […] removed for us). The room was huge, however everything was out dated to include bathrooms, wet bar and heating system. The fireplace was really nice though.

Room was out dated and had an old musty smell. Bathtub stained and needed to be replaced. Had to walk at night in the dark to another building to get Ice and a drink. Not a place I would choose to stay again.

Overall River Terrace was nice. Great location-loved being on the river. We enjoyed the fireplace. Only complaints are the rooms were a little outdated & our commode rocked. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay.

We didn't have hot water either night we were there, showers were freezing. The rooms were big and spacious but out dated. The location was perfect for us.

No extra blankets in rooms, only 2 pillows , which made for mot a restful nights sleep. Also the room next door had a dog which annoyed us with its barking around 9 pm and woke me up at 8 am. So probably won't be returning there

It was a good price and close to town. But the room was old and needed repaired. Bathroom fixture were falling apart. It looked like they tried to fix some of it, but it was poorly done. The hotel is on the side of a mountain, they could invest in steps to get to your room. If you had bad knees, you would have a problem walking up the drive way. The […] cleaning crew was some of the worst I have ever seen. Left an empty cartoon to a 12 pack of Coke by the trash can instead of taking it out with the trash. Did not wash the coffe maker out, didn't even empty it. Didnt pick up thetrash from the table(used sugar pack). It did not look like they swept very well. I guess at least they made the bed. Very nice older hotel. Staff was very friendly. Room was roomy and comfortable, love the river view and the river walk. Short walk to everywhere we wanted to be. Only complaint was pillows were very old and hard. Bed was very comfortable other than that.

Nice motel, great location, but it had the most miserable bed that me and my family ever slept on.We were so miserable that next when we go to Gatlinburg. My family would rather sleep in the back of a pickup truck, if the river terrace was the only place left. The beds suck and pillows were pathetic.
