Kimpton De Witt Amsterdam, an IHG Hotel

We were stuck in a nearly-shut-down Amsterdam due to the Coronavirus, but the staff at Kimpton de Witt were fantastic. Friendly, always willing to help or answer a question, or give us suggestions for heading out to get supplies for where to get groceries or takeaway food. The free bicycle loan was a nice touch, too. We’ll definitely stay here again when we return to The Netherlands.

What a great experience! A short 6 minute walk from Centraal Station after a fast train from Schipol airport. On check-in the staff were really friendly and did their best to accommodate our request for a quieter room. Usually in a twin room you can get a small dark room and ours was a great size, loved the decor and extra touches like a proper decent hairdryer, Nespresso machine and working fridge! The Super Lyan Bar in the hotel is awesome, again great friendly staff and fantastic cocktails and 'wine hour' was a really nice treat in the early evening. We didn't have breakfast here as there are lots of great places close by but couldn't fault the service, staff and atmosphere here.

Requested a quiet room away from lifts or service cupboards. Given a room next to lifts AND a service cupboard. Return to front desk to change room - receptionist thought room was away from lifts. Given new room key for another room. Get to old room to move possessions - cant get in as old room key cancelled. Go back to front desk, told problem caused "by the computer system". Let into old room by staff. Move into new room. 6th floor room bathroom smells of rotten eggs from the drains. On last morning cleaning staff open door of room awakening us. Restaurant closed for refurb. Nice hotel when it works. It didn't work on this occasion spoiling my weekend. Given an apology small concession on checkout when I complained about stay.

We chose this hotel because it was close to the central station - we had an early train to catch the next morning. We went to check in at 11am, expecting to leave our bags until the room was ready at 3.00pm, but the charming receptionist found a room that was already available. The room was compact but had everything we needed for a 1 night stay. We enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine at the happy hour - again all the staff we met were charming. Checkout was fast and easy the next morning. We would definitely recommend this hotel, and especially if you need easy access to the train station

This hotel is literally a solid 10/10. On the list of global hotels I've stayed out, this is in the top 5 for sure. The location to the city, central station, and everything around makes it a well rounded hotel. The staff are quite friendly. The lobby and bar are beautiful. The room is very modern and nicely designed. Bed was very comfortable. There was some construction noise we heard once, and the front desk offered to move us, but we never heard it again. So in summary, great hotel and worth the price.
