Fantastic staff, Shame about the rest

Definitely not 4 star, very basic. Pillows very old and no protectors. Matress protector had lots of stains and so did duvet, considering it's meant to be clean re. Covid, this is very poor. The staff however were lovely friendly and so helpful, a real shame as duvets and pillows are such cheap items to replace.

Excellent Management

On arrival Covid 19 measures were explained clearly, and staff did their best to ensure customers did not break the law. The management clearly has an eye for detail, and leads a supportive team. Staff were always ready to deal with our requests. The breakfast time staff were extremely helpful The evening meal was typical chain pub style. We had the vegan pie and were very happy with the quality/price balance. The bedroom and bathroom were spotless. Thanks to the cleaning staff. The bed was comfortable, and even though we were on the side by the road, we were not bothered by road noise. Very good public transport with bus stop only 100 metres away I give it five stars, bearing in mind the expectations for this type of accommodation. This place deserves to do well in view of the effort put in by the staff

The room and bathroom was clean. The facilities in the room where basic but well thought out. For example plug sockets next to the bed and three cups in a family room. The staff where polite and helpful. Allpwing us an extra room card key for our stay. The pub in a seperate building by marstons inns does food and drink thats perfectly good food i woukd say a step above a weatherspoons or premier inn restaurants. It would have been nice if check in was from 1 rather than two and a small fridge would be extremely useful.

Great location, nice accommodation, restaurant good and a nice walk down the hill to the Harbour. Located on the road out to Robin Hood Bay and Scarborough so good for onward travel

Clean and fresh stay

Lovely clean spacious room, the hotel had a lovely fresh new and clean smell and feel. Located near a road but no traffic noise. Pub next door was lovely and the food was good and well priced. Would definitely stay again.

It's quiet and comfortable. We could have done with extra pillows. It seems to be well protected against Covid 19.

Lovely staff but uncomfortable bed.

Everyone was lovely, pub staff and cleaners. The bed was the only slight problem- very uncomfortable mattress and pillows.

Had two days at Penny Hedge and have to say it was excellent. Rooms perhaps a little dated but does not worry us as we only need it to sleep in. The meals were fabulous and reasonably priced. Large portions as well. The Breakfasts also huge especially if you went for the extra large. All in all very pleased
