Thon Hotel Gyldenløve

The hotel is confortable, the breakfast is really amazing for the quality of the food and selection and I got it included in the room price. All was clean. The only weird thing is that the basin is not in the bathroom but in the room.... Anyway it was a really nice stay.

Great hotel in great are but pillows dreadful - too soft, had a terrible sleep.

Bed was small and uncomfortable but the breakfast was very good. The staff was also friendly but bar was closed on a Sunday evening and nothing to eat.

I had to go a Job down the road and this was the most convenient hotel around.On arrival I asked if there was a car park that I could use and was told that I was better of leaving the car on the street as in 15min it would be free until 9am. the receptionist kept an eye on my car for that 15 min to make sure no truck came along to take the car. I used the attached restaraunt to eat and drink (I didnt really have time to check the area out) which is o.k. if you like fried chicken. In the morning I have to say was the most disappointed I have been while staying in many hotels in Norway. I think this was the worst breakfast I have ever had in Norway and I have been there many times and have always praised them for their breakfast. There wasn't any bacon (except for a bit on the fried egg), the choice on the cold dishes was limited (compared to other hotels) and this was the first time I have ever seen a layer of grease floating on baked beans. There didn't appear to be any normal tea (just flavoured). But you will find something to eat. This was not what you need when you have go to work for 2 hrs then driving to Kristiansand for 4.5 hrs before working again for another 4 hrs. The room was like all rooms in a Thon hotle, clean and comfortable with a good shower.
