Mercure Hotel Dortmund City

Excellent location, near train and subway station.

We chose this hotel for our trip to the Christmas markets and the location was great.

The hotel is nice, rooms are comfy, breakfast is decent and the staff are efficient and friendly - the stay was good from that perspective. The issue is that one section of the hotel is very near an all night bar that is incredibly loud until 5am over the weekend. The noise was only on the Friday and Saturday night, but it made it virtually impossible to sleep. I was not the only guest complaining as I heard a number of others. While that isn't the hotel's fault, had I known I would not have chosen to stay there. So probably a great hotel for weekday visits, but best avoided on the weekend unless you can be guaranteed a room on the quieter sides.

Close to train station and under ground sub-station

Had an overnight stay and everything was great. Staff even accommodating helping to cut a wristband off that was stuck on my wrist. Even though there are works going on at the hotel nothing was obtrusive to my stay.

The property location is very convenient to both the train station and shops downtown. Unfortunately, although the hotel advertises that they have air conditioning the management of the building would not turn it on. The temperature was 87 degrees in Dortmund and my room felt like 100 degrees. Hotel management thought that giving me a $5.00 fan to blow around the hot air was compensation enough.....I disagree! I will never stay at this hotel again as my complaints went unanswered for the entire 5 days! At a minimum half of my room rate (or in full) should have been paid back as it was impossible to sleep at this hotel or hangout in the room during the day.

We walked around the building site 3 times trying to find an entrance that was a glass door between scaffolding that lead to a lift The hotel was on top of a building site that started drilling at 7am

Staff very kindly gave us an early check in which was very helpful given our itinerary. The same member of staff helped organising a taxi the following morning which was also very helpful.

walking distance to train station and easy access to the city. Good size room and value for the price paid

Stayed here while in town to see Der Klassiker - Dortmund vs Bayern Munich. Location was perfect as it was a short walk from the train station to the hotel. There was a great outside mall just across the street with tons of shops and many nice restaurants. The UBahn to the stadium was less than 100 meters away. Nice, clean hotel and awesome location.
