RIU Palace Tropical Bay All Inclusive

They took my money for days I didn’t even stay. She promised me a refund but never gave my money back

I love the entertainment, staff, COVID regulations, cleanliness. Bubbles and the entertainment crew of Spotlight, Sandy, T-Pain and all the others were awesome. All of the dinning staff of Chad, Karen, Samuel and so many others were amazing. Upon check in Julian at the front desk was very friendly. The property was clean and beautiful, our room was spacious and big. My only complaint is do not waste money on getting an ocean front room the view is blocked by all the palm trees, you do not get a full view of the ocean plus you are barely in the room.

The food was horrible. The first room was a view of a water tank. We requested to be moved.

The customer service was excellent. The hotel has excellent protocol in place to try and protecting their guest from the covid 19. My husband and I enjoyed our time. We recommend anyone who wants a place to stay the hotel is a great vacation spot.

Well as far as the food and the attitude of the staff, it was excellent. My issue started reaching my room where I booked a king bed and had two double beds pushed together and two small itchy material blankets. I was on vacation with my boyfriend and we couldn’t even sleep next to one another because he nearly fell between the beds. Imagine being on vacation with your significant other, getting a break from the kids and you can’t even cuddle at night. Secondly, we had a bed full of ants. Imagine sleeping and being awaken by hard ant bites. I woke up turned the lights on and they were all over us coming up from the split in between the two beds. They were also in the pillows and no we had no food in our room. The beach was beautiful but in my four day stay I was on the beach for a total of maybe an hour. The vendors walking the beach harass you nonstop to purchase things to the point where you just want to avoid them so that kept me off the beach. I am someone who purchased something from most of them and still they harass you every time they see you. I was even asked for my clothes. It was sad for me being that we’re also from the Caribbean and couldn’t enjoy the relaxation of the beach because of this and it’s specifically what we went for. The facility has three pools that are nice but one can really be used for swimming. As far as the food, spa, drinks and the staff this hotel is great but if you want a relaxing and comfortable vacation the RIU Tropical Bay is NOT IT!

Food was subpar at best, buffets of the same food for every meal every day was extremely disappointing. It was hard to get someone to take drink orders at the pool. It took them forever to clean the beach up so the whole week we stayed there we could not go to the beach. I had to call reception and ask several times for wash cloths and hand towels, went days without them. My husband and I had to go off property to have a good dinner. Many of the staff were slow and disrespectful. The saving grace of this establishment was Shamelia at the front desk, she was very helpful and kind. I understand we are going through COVID but that should have no bearing on quality of food and variety, service also. I can’t understand why this resort could not do what other resorts in the area did and open restaurants by reservation. I would not recommend this resort and would never stay again.

The property is fantastic and beautiful. Covid precautions were well met and done. Staff is friendly and helpful as always! I hope the hotel owners are compensating them as they deserve during this difficult time.

Property was very nice, clean and friendly. The staff went out of their way to make you feel welcome.

The water and sand was amazing. No elevators for those on the third or second floors.
