Pretty nice for the price. The location is especially great. Check-in was smooth and I found my room no problem. There was a system in place when I arrived that meant you'd use the elevator going up and the stairs going down, but the lift seemed to be broken after the first day. Not a massive problem but there's definitely not enough room to pass on the stairs, so be mindful of that. My main problem was the noise made by the air conditioning, which I understand may sound like a petty complaint, but as a Brit I'm not used to that clatter. I made the mistake of turning it off and coming back to a freezing cold room so I wouldn't recommend that. You can certainly appreciate that this hotel has been refurbished not too many years ago. The waterfall shower is a strong selling point and indeed very lovely. Though, I do doubt whether most customers would get any use out of the 30-pin iPod dock, and it seemed like my TV had been disconnected. Overall, not a bad stay, beats a hostel.
Time off of work and daughter on holiday with grandparents I decided to pop to Edinburgh to get away from it all on my own. The hotel was great, It is in such a great location that it is close to most touristy places you would want to go to. The room itself was on the small side but comfortable, and I loved the Dandy wallpaper! The TV was a bit temperamental which the staff did offer to have someone look at it for me, but it wasn't a massive issue as i watched tv on my tablet/phone. The staff were very friendly and lovely to talk to. With the windows closed you dont hear any of the noises from the road below, however the road can be a bit noisy at night with the windows open, with the binmen late at night and the bars emptying their empty glass bottles very early in the morning.... I would say that was the only drawback, however it wouldnt stop me from staying again. I will hopefully be returning in December with my daughter so cant wait to see you all again!
Great location, very tired looking, uncomfortable lumpy pillows. Very warm in the room, Air conditioning does not work which meant very hard to sleep. Would not recommend.
Hotel and staff were fantastic. The extra care taken to ensure guests safety during the Covid 19 pandemic was well thought out and information was conveyed to us prior to our arrival. Great central location directly onto the Grassmarket.
It's in a great location. My room was small but comfortable.
Modern hotel on the centre of the city, in the old town with some quirky touches. Different breakfast options which gave good choices and indeed very tasty. Option to eat dinner in adjoining bar at reasonable prices. Would return
Excellent location, quirky rooms with comfy beds and complimentary tea cakes and water, friendly helpful staff
Comfy bed cool bathroom lovely tolieteries funky decor in the room and really good breakfast
Cleaning lady was rude... she also used her bare hands to “wash” our tea cups in the sink.... we thought we were getting fresh ones everyday... until our last day when we saw her do that :( Pretty gross... we also had a dirty floor the entire stay and asked for it to be vacuumed/mopped and it never was. Just disappointing because we loved the location and I do visit Edinburgh fairly often. Also the front desk girls didn’t seem to care when we complained about the cups...
Our stay here was overall good - it's very convenient to the Royal Mile and all other Edinburgh sites, and the Victoria Street area overall is very cute. It was great that the hotel provided in-room coffee and tea. The layout of this hotel though was interesting - it's like a maze and we got lost every time we tried to find our room. There also is no lift going to most rooms so being on a high floor was tiring! We checked in very late at night and the guy at the front desk took 10 minutes to come out and check us in, and to be honest he acted like he was drunk or something! He didn't tell us that the hotel was basically a maze and we wandered around for about 15 minutes trying to find our room before going back downstairs to find him. He then begrudgingly took us to our room, which we never would have found on our own. At 3 in the morning we did not appreciate this! Overall the customer service could be improved upon.
