The staff were very pleasant. The lobby and restrooms were kept tidy. There was a large roach that came in through the windows so perhaps it would be best to keep the widows closed during the summer since there are no screens. Also it would be helpful for staff to enforce quiet hours in the late night. There were guests on the 3rd floor of the east building who loitered in the hallways from 11pm-2am, with a child which was pretty surprising. Overall it was a decent stay, but if there are no repercussions for folks who disturb other guests than this behavior will persist.

A first time turns into a regular time

It was my first time staying in Apple Hostels of Philadelphia, and I was very happy with my stay. I was impressed at how committed the staff was at cleaning and making every part of the facility as clean and sanitized as possible. All staff members were wearing face masks at all times, and on several occasions I saw various staff members cleaning, laundering, sanitizine, etc. Every staff member was professional, helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. If I had a question, they had an answer. I especially enjoyed seeing the diversity of the staff; male, female, light-skinned, Black, Hispanic, Caucasian, etc. Also, there were various age ranges, too. I was especially happy to discover that this facility has a private room, which I honestly had no idea hostels offered, and I was more than happy to stay in that one. Thje queen-sized bed was very comfortable, the pillows were perfect, and I especially enjoyed the blackout curtains and the chair by one of the windows which is perfect for reading a book. I have no doubt that when I travel by myself to Philadelphia again, I shall happily return to Apple Hostels of Philadelphia.

Great stay!

Had a great stay, the host was kind and accommodating. Had movie night on Sunday, which was fun! Perfectly located as well.

It was great overall. The only “incident” that I had was upon checkout, I had brought now all the linen from my bed, including the duvet. I didn’t notice where to put it downstairs, and no one was at the front desk at that particular time. So, I put it on the floor in the laundry room where the staff washed things as well. Some guy happened to walk up as I was leaving out, and asked me rudely if I brought down my linen. I told him that I didn’t see where to place it, so I placed it in the laundry room on the floor. He rudely pointed to and told me that it should had gone in a laundry basket that was sorta behind the desk (excuse me for not seeing it and making a mistake). He then sorta stormed into the laundry room to retrieve the linen, and he was like “oh man, you brought down the duvet too?!”. I’m like, aren’t you guys going to wash that as well? He rudely responded, “Well, I guess we are now.” I don’t give it to people’s attitudes, but it did make me wonder whether or not the duvet I had been wrapping myself in had been used by several other people and not washed. Scary idea, especially with the corona virus killing peoples these days.

This is in a good location with lots of site seeing destinations in walking distance. It is very close to Indego bike station that is $12 to rent a bike for the day, this is a great cheap way to see the city and get to other popular destinations in town. The check-in process is a breeze, friendly staff, and there are activities available for those staying. The building is old, so the staircases and such can seem a little sketchy. The furniture available in the TV lounge could definitely use some updating. The faux leather sofas are starting to peel and look bad. I would stay here again if in town again!

Love you Apple Hostels

I had to find an affordable extended stay option for work and until I got established in Philly. One of the cleanest and convenient hostels I have ever stayed at!! My roomies were super clean and respectful as well...which makes all the difference. -Full kitchen - Laundry - clean showers and bathrooms - close to everything you need and want

Excellent facility, below average staff

I stayed at both Apple Hostels and City House in Philadelphia to compare the two. Between the two options, Apple Hostels is bigger (with two buildings) and has a larger common and kitchen area. It is also overall a nicer and cleaner building despite an odd smell in the particular room I stayed in. I would rate the facilities at 7.5-8/10. However a specific staff is simply not friendly and I am not sure how she ever got a job in hospitality. That being said, it was just the one person and other staff members seemed normal.

Not very nice for the price. It was shown on Expedia at $110 but actual cost was $170. When you walk in they hand you your sheets. You have to make your own bed. Bathrooms and showers are shared with other guests. Breakfast consists of dry cereal. Should have stayed at the Westin for $50 more.

Absolute 5/5, highly recommend!!

Such a great place to stay -- everybody (guests and staff, alike) was so friendly. I visited Philly to attend a concert, but I definitely plan on coming up another time specifically to stay here and partake in the activities!
