Guacamaya Lodge

I'm not somebody who leaves reviews often but I wanted to make sure I took the time to leave this review - YOU SHOULD STAY HERE!!! The location is fantastic near the beach. The staff is beyond friendly and welcoming - Michael was such a delight and the owners were constantly checking to make sure everything was up to par. The restaurant was incredible (really surprising because we stayed in other parts of Costa Rica after this and nothing else compared). They even arranged for beach horseback riding and the tour ended at our hotel room door. Beyond 5 stars!

It was a beautiful property in a quiet tranquil setting. Staff was amazing. Micheal the bartender was amazing.

The lodge was lovely and very well looked after. It’s located in a very quiet area so needs a car or a driver to get to it. The room was very comfortable with a small kitchen and separate bathroom with a large shower. There is air conditioning in the room, but I didn’t use it, as I preferred to leave the windows open and have the natural breeze blow through (there are mosquito screens on every window and there are lots of windows!) The food was excellent and easily accessible from the on site restaurant and bar. The pool is well looked after and sun loungers are available and pool towels provided. The beach is a short 5 minute walk and is very clean and has amazing sunsets. What I really loved about this place was the quiet and being able to hear the sounds of monkeys, birds and insects in the mornings and at night. I highly recommend this lodge for a relaxed and quiet stay.

Excellent stay ! Clean and delicious food. Property owners helpful and friendly. Safe and affordable. Great location . Would stay again .

Nice hotel near the ocean food was excellent

best place in Junquillal. Family owned and managed. Very friendly good karma environment. Awesome pool and delicious restaurant on site with all day gourmet and local food selections. Peaceful beautiful pool for lounging and relaxing.

I would stay there again if I was in the area beautiful place. The staff absolutely wonderful and the food was great.

Our second time here and we plan on going back. We gave it a four rating on comfort because the beds are really hard. We also gave it a four rating on the local area because it is pretty far from a major town. That’s not for everyone but we love it. This lodge is 1-2 miles from secluded beaches with good snorkeling. There are several restaurants close by that have fantastic food, including the one at the lodge. The owners and others guests are very friendly and happy to help in any way. We recommend this place without hesitation. Also, the WiFi works better there than it does where we live here in the states.

For the second half of my vacation, I wanted to stay a small, laid back, low/key place near the ocean, and this describes the the Guacamaya Lodge. Junquillal is a low keyed, laid back, off the radar kind of place with dark volcanic sand beaches. The staff was friendly, the sun was warm, the beach was very clean and only a five minute walk down the hill. The pool was nice, a well stocked bar, ample amenities, owner on hand, and good food. I would definitely go there again.
