The lodge was a little outdated but still was enjoyable! The staff was extremely nice and helpful. (Especially due to COVID maps weren’t just sitting out). Overall, things were clean and I felt safe. The trails were fun to hike and the restaurant was convenient. The food was ok and Portsmouth had restaurants only 7 minutes away. We didn’t Go swimming. COVID policy required reservations for the pool, there was We had a great time!

Wedding close by. Facilities are excellent. Many amenities. Would definitely visit for extended stay again.

We had a great time. It was very clean and safe. My kids had a blast and said it was the best idea I have ever had. We will definitely be back!

Old, run down, needs complete update for price
I booked this reservation and paid in full at time of booking. Our son plays travel ball and his tournament was going to be in West Union. Two days before we were to leave his tournament was moved to Hammersville which is about an hour and half drive from this hotel. I contacted Hotels.com and they were very helpful trying to contact to hotel to get the OK to refund my stay. The hotel was sold out on the night of our stay and would have had no problems booking the room to someone else ( two people called in the short time we were checking in) and the manager wasn't in, we were told they could call us back. I tried the next day, same thing. I called the day of check in to explain my situation and asked for an early check in( didnt need in the room just wanted the process done because it would be late before we made it) same thing. No manager, no call back. Very unhelpful! We didnt want to loose the $200 so we went and checked in. THIS IS BACKWOODS!! Absolutely NO CELL PHONE SERVICE! The drive there was incredibly scary! at one point we were on a gravel road that looked like someones driveway. The hotel was nice enough but definitely not worth the money. It was old and run down. Most amenities were closed due to COVID. Says free wifi- if you can get it to work. With no cell service we couldnt connect. Beds were hard, pillows were flat, bedding was thin. Front desk not very helpful. Will brush you off. We had a wasp in our room that had borrowed into the wood ceiling. NIGHTMARE

We booked the lodge during our visit to the Christmas Cave in Minford. The lodge was decorated beautifully for Christmas, and our adults enjoyed beverages while our grandkids opened exchange gifts. The rooms were beautiful, and we all loved the rustic cabin décor. Everyone would like to stay there again to enjoy summer activities the next time. I would recommend this property to anyone.
