1872 River House

If I could give the 1872 River House 6 stars I would. It's that great and the owners are so accommodating and wonderful. There are just 8 rooms and they are updated to "Fairmont Hotel" type standards while retaining their old world charm. The food is amazing, the views are beautiful and the graciousness and warmth of the staff and owners is absolutely the best you'll ever experience. It's also is the most convenient location right in the center of town on the Duoro River.

A most delightful and charming hotel! The hosts and staff were very friendly, accommodating and truly wonderful. Excellent breakfast buffet and delicious snacks and drinks available at all times. Location is perfect and can’t wait to stay there again. Loved it!

Our 4 day stay was perfection. The staff, location, comfort level, decor, cleanliness and breakfast can not be faulted. Throughout our stay the staff were very helpful and always had a friendly smile. The room was beautiful and quiet and had a nice view of the river. Bed was super comfortable, air con worked well and wifi access was excellent. Breakfast was plentiful, cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit and juice, breads etc plus cooked eggs if you would like. All food was so fresh and flavoursome. The location was perfect, easy walking distance to most attractions but also close to the metro, bus lines, tram and taxi rank if required. Would highly recommend the 1872 River House A++++.

Great location, staff awesome always willing to help! View beautiful , can look at the river through front windows sitting on comfortable lounges with complimentary coffee cakes or quiche, they have something different everyday! Also FREE BEER! This is also where breakfast is served. Such a pretty place, the decor is just beautiful, the renovation is done old world style! Would definitely stay here again!

1872 River House is perfectly located along the river in an historic area of Porto - close to historic points of interest, lots of restaurants, and shopping. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful re the property and Porto. The restored house is lovely with attention to detail in its decorating and daily upkeep. The hotel room was small but had all the necessary amenities, and a bit noisy at night being on a pedestrian alley.

This hotel is in a perfect and beautiful location overlooking the river and close to great restaurants and shops in the historic area. The breakfast is outstanding with a variety of snacks available throughout the day. The welcome glasses of port was a nice touch and the staff are knowledgeable, very friendly and always contactable to help.

The staff was very accommodating. They helped us print out our airline boarding passes for our trip home and had our breakfast ready at 8 am so we could catch our cab to the airport.
