Pousada Castelo de Óbidos - Historic Hotel

This was a wonderful place to stay. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. The room was spacious and shower fantastic. The location is perfect and stimulating with all the artwork. Beautiful atmosphere.

Staff is excellent - very helpful in all respects. Hotel is in the thick of the action at the top of the main shopping/restaurant street. Remember this is a castle retrofitted with modern conveniences. Access by car is not for the faint of heart but eminently doable.

This property is fabulous - preserving the history of the castle but adding modern amenities. The views from the Pousada are extraordinary and the location makes it ideal for walking inside the walls of the old town. The dining room was top-notch - quite elegant, exceptional service, excellent food and stunning views. The room was very comfortable and retained elements of days gone by, but with a modern bath, etc. LOTS of stairs - not a problem for us (or for their very fit staff!) but might be difficult for some.

Loved the location and concept. I did not like the fact that while on premises with my family, an employee went out of his way to verify that I was a guest while enjoying the beautiful views and taking photos. Kind of spoiled the moment for me. I felt somewhat profiled in that he saw us from downstairs and made his way up several flights just to ask if I was a guest. Not sure he does that to everyone he sees. My family and I are ethnic minorities, btw.

As requested we got a room in the castle proper, a lovely room mixing old and modern comfort, on a beautiful courtyard.

It was a dream of mine to stay at a castle and this did not disappoint. It is a beautiful hotel in a fairytale town. I hurt my foot and the hotel staff was very kind and attentive. I want to come back and stay in the Tower room.

Loved the charm! Its very beautiful and unique! I think there should be a dehumidifier in the room, however.

The town of Obidos and hotel in former castle are absolutely unique place; you live in medieval town and have all conveniences of contemporary hotel. Only one problem was to get there by very narrow and steep roads and not very clear GPS instruction. But hotel has parking lot right below huge castle walls.
