The Originals Boutique, Hôtel Le Rempart, Tournus

The room was spacious and included plenty of amenities. The staff was friendly and the location was perfect for our trip through Bergundy. There’s a beautiful 1,000 year old church a short walk away! The carpet felt a little dirty though.

A very very basic hotel. The room was like a throw back to the 1980"s!! We never slept a wink. The canopy over the windows rattled so badly through a light wind. We complained to reception but was told all the other rooms would be the same. The hotel pictures are deceptive!! The hotel is on a noisy road. Very expensive for the type of hotel. No better than a 2* basic motorway hotel. Not happy at all. Carpets all stained in the room. Their only saving grace, the girls on reception are nice but they are not paying for it! Do not recommend. For €147 a night in a basic room. I have stayed in far better for an over night stop at a lot less.

Lovely hotel however not worth the €139 price tag that hotels.com charge for the comfort room. WiFi didn’t really work well in the room either. Restaurants look lovely. Staff very helpful. Dog friendly.

Tournus is a lovely, old-fashioned town redolent of the France of Years Gone By. The Hotel is well-placed for visiting the town on foot. Don't be put off by its position on the main road, as the rooms are very well soundproofed. We've stayed there twice and always had good sleeps. There is a Michelin-starred restaurant in the hotel, and a Bistrot of equal style and excellence. Dig deeper into Tournus and you'll find all sorts of little shops and some great cafes and restaurants.

Lovely hotel, staff really friendly. Stayed on our way through to the south of France. Would recommend the hotel to others.

Tournus is a peaceful small town which is typical of "old France". Le Rempart is centrally located, within easy walking distance of the town centre, the Saone quays, and is right next to the main historical attraction, the Abbaye Saint-Philibert, a medieval church and the main surviving building of a former Benedictine abbey. The hotel has a secure car park, a Michelin-starred restaurant and a bistro served by the same kitchen. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and have good wifi.

This was a return to the Le Rampart after our first visit 30 years ago. That one was on business, but this one was pleasure. Much enjoyed. Great location within walking distance to shops, restaurants, churches, etc in Tournus. Staff were very helpful and managed to work through the language differences, English and French that is.

We have stayed at Le Rempart several times over the past few years and it has always been a pleasant experience. There are two big advantages for this hotel: first, it has two restaurants so you can always get a good meal seven days a week. That is quite unusual in this region of France. Second, it is the ideal place to stop if, like us, you are drivng all the way from the south of France to the UK as it is about midway and Le Rempart is just five minutes from the autoroute. Tournus is a beautiful small town, ideal to walk around after a long drive, and it has two service stations near the autoroute entrance where you can refuel cheaply. This hotel itself is well run with helpful, friendly staff and a 'family' feel. Although slightly faded, our rooms have always been quite acceptable with good beds, reasonable free wifi and plenty of power sockets, bathrooms with good showers and well insulated from traffic noise as the hotel is on a busy road. Parking is free and easy, right by the front door or at the back in a small covered garage. We haven't dined in the more classy, traditional restaurant but the bistro offers a good range of local food and, of course, wines. Also, the bistro has a wonderful sliding canopy roof which is open in the summer and has a great 'courtyard' feel to it. Mid-priced for Tournus, Le Rempart offers good value and
