Sonder has an cumbersome check in process, supposedly automated, but which resulted in us having to wait over two hours to access our room from when we arrived. It was a series of emails and waiting for someone to confirm that step before sending us the next step in the process. Very frustrating. Also, the location is EXTREMELY loud from about 6pm until about 3am, there's constant noises and thumping music.
As there’s no lobby, you have to register before your arrival, which would have been better to know before. Otherwise beautiful (but small) room with all the equipments we needed. One thing: it is located upon a very busy bar that can be REALLY noisy, especially on weekend nights (REALLY thin windows). «Thankfull», we were there during covid so there was no activity.
the apartment is located right above a very noisy bar. Even tough the description mentions an active nightlife on weekends the party and noise did not stop on Sunday evening and Monday evening.
The apartment (#23) was nice, fresh and clean. My apartment only had one window and it looked out onto a building wall so there wasn't much natural light. The upside of that is that I didn't hear street noise, considering 5th definitely has a vibrant nightlife every day of the week. The hallways, elevator and staircases were definitely dingy so my first impression of the place wasn't great. But the apartment had everything I needed and customer service while I was there was an 11 out of 10. One thing to note - the TV only has Chromecast, no premium channels without your own device or subscription.
This is more like renting an apartment than staying at a hotel. This is great if you are going to San Diego to experience the night life and stay out late. This is not so good if you are on a business trip and need rest, you are in a small apartment building two floors above night clubs.
Extremely noisy. Located above restaurant bar. Room was nice and clean but the noise made the stay a miserable experience.
I didnt like the parking situation. There are more reasonable options and they should be recommended. The location is great right in the center of the action. I felt very comfortable.
The property is right above 2 very loud bars. The floor was vibrating and loud music was blaring until 3am. I was traveling for business and was not able to sleep at all. Worst hotel experience I’ve ever had as a veteran biz traveler.
My conference was in the marina 1/2 mile away. Nest was centrally locates in the heart of Gaslamp. We were not bothered by street noise in our room location. Problems - bathroom sink ran slow (gross); shower handle pulls off; no windows other than 1 in bedroom (stuffy); only tv in living room not bedroom; coffee maker didn’t work right. But clean and good location, cute kitchen; decent value for price I paid, minus the sink.
I have to admit, the earplugs on the bed and the weight of the curtains had me skeptical about Nest on Fifth. Best thing in the world is that neither of those things were any concern at ALL! The room was dark and quiet and I slept like a baby. I’ll be recommending to anyone going to SD.
