A really good hotel situated in a busy and slightly alternative neighborhood!
Fantastic hotel, recently built and with great rooms and views of the city. Highly recommended!
This is a nice hotel in, as others have mentioned, a sketchy area. However, our plans mainly involved the Centro area and not Paulista Ave, so the location made more sense for us. We arrived at 9am and requested an early check-in. We were told (as we were expecting) that if we were to check in now, we would be charged a half day rate. However, if we waited until 10am, we would be accommodated without extra charge. All of the staff were friendly, and most spoke at least a little english. We want to especially mention Joao Manuel, who we believe is the manager of the restaurant. He spoke excellent english and helped us with the menu and remembered us from day to day. Our room was adequate, but cleaning is an issue. We found stains on the carpet and upholstery, splatter stains on the walls next to the sink and toilet, smear stains on the bathroom door/door jam, melted chocolate on the spare blanket in the closet, and when I picked up the hotel directory, a chocolate candy bar wrapper was stuck to the underside. The windows offer little toward sound proofing, but fortunately the street was quiet at night. We noticed as we walked the hall, we could also hear inside other rooms quite clearly. However, we were at the end of the hall, so it didn't affect us. There was an issue with our key cards being deactivate prior to checkout, but that was quickly solved. The front desk also called a taxi for us on the occasions we needed it.
Beautiful hotel, an old classic that has been frequented by many illustrious political and artistic figures such as Luciano Pavarotti, Vinicius de Moraes, King Juan Carlos of Spain to name a few. This hotel was demolished in 2009 and then rebuilt and launched again in 2016. The rooms are very spacious and the bed sheets are heavenly soft. The hotel features one of the best restaurants in São Paulo serving high end Italian food. On weekends there is a live pianist playing old classics on a beautiful antique 1870 Erard French piano. Breakfast was included in my stay and it was excellent. I particularly loved their omelettes, and fresh fruit selection. This hotel is in a great location. I walked around the neighborhood without any issues. On one right side of the hotel, about 250 meters down the road you will find Avanhandava street, famous for its restaurants owned by the well known Mancini family and on the left side, there is Frei Caneca Street, where I bumped into a great little market just 100 meters up the road with products such as the famous Brazil nuts which makes for a great souvenir gift, fresh fruits, snacks, beauty products and even wine. Continuing further up on the same street there is a lovely little mall called Shopping Frei Caneca where you will find some basic stores, a pharmacy, an ATM machine, a food court and even a movie theater. The neighborhood is pretty safe, but I wouldn’t flash any jewelry or the streets or even an IPhone, after all you are in Brasil!
