HOTEL LOCUS

Friendly staff who speak good English and were always willing to help my many requests. Convenient laundry room in the hotel for those staying long or needing to wash beach clothes. Good breakfast and it’s a good idea to take the rate that includes it or you’ll pay more. Have stayed here many times and will again in the future. Also very conveniently located near town. Parking lot fills up quick so better to take a taxi to town at night so you won’t lose your spot!

The entire hotel was Very clean, the staff was polite & helpful. Even the cleaning staff were so friendly! The breakfast bar was very healthy & delicious! We loved this hotel!

lack of parking

Great central location. Locus cafe has great food. Staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. Very comfortable beds, easy car parking onsite, close walk to restaurants and great amenities.

Easy access to airport, town center and all of Miyako, Irabu and Shimoji. New, clean hotel with very nice, modern interior design. Friendly, helpful staff. Front desk speaks English; other staff it is helpful to know a little Japanese, but they're still very friendly and helpful. Non-smoking property except in designated smoking room on 1/f. Restaurant on-site was well presented, had pretty good food for breakfast (and great coffee). Also, was easy to walk to the restaurants and shops in the center of town (slightly uphill from hotel). Hotel rents bicycles if you'd rather pedal around. If you have a balcony room, there is a great view of the waterfront. Only potential cons are totally dependent on your hotel neighbors. Sound travels from balcony and hallway into room somewhat easily so if you have loud neighbors, may be an issue. Also, if your neighbors disregard the smoking rules and smoke on their balcony, it easily comes into neighboring room even if the door is shut. Would definitely stay again if I'm back to Miyako; good value overall.

I spent 3 nights at Hotel Locus and I wish I had stayed longer. It is a new hotel located by the water at Hirara Port which is a great central location to explore the islands. The hotel is beautifully designed with lots of things to do and so many small and well thought out touches. My room was excellent. Really well equipped with a unique design. Check in and out was easy and fast thanks to the friendly and helpful staff. They were always eager to help and answered all of my questions and pointed me in the right direction. I ate dinner one night and breakfast daily in the restaurant Locus Table. I wasn't expecting much after reading previous reviews but the breakfast was great. You had the choice of two items on display and there was also a buffet style set up in the middle of the room. Dinner was also great. The only downside of my stay was the parking. It's hard to believe that they would build such a great hotel and not add enough car spots to the property. On a couple of occasions I had to drive down the road to a public car park. Miyakojima was the highlight of my 3 weeks in Japan, the beaches, scenery, the food and the people were wonderful and I really look forward to returning again in the near future. I will definitely be staying at Hotel Locus again when I do.
