Horseshoe Hotel

My husband had a lovely stay at the hotel. The owners were very welcoming. The food is delicious . The hotel is very cosy and friendly and has lovely walks in the area.

The most unfriendly, unyielding booking ever. I wasn't allowed to correct a mistake of date one minute after it occurred - and the booking was non-refundable! One minute! Furthermore the mistake wasn't even mine but the booking system's. I was charged for a date I did not enter and that I would never have been able to fulfil even if I had wanted to. I spotted the mistake immediately and was in effect told Bad Luck.

On your site it stated a double room but when we arrived it was a twin (two single beds only). When I tried explaining they were not prepared to listen at all so we gave up. While my car was in the car park the front was near an outside picnic table. The following morning it had scratches all over the front where it looks like it was being used as either a footrest or seat. Overall the place seemed nice but the above two things put me off wanting to go back to the same place.

Comfortable, unpretentious, friendly staff, excellent food. Old fashioned in the nicest possible way.

Really good little hotel in the countryside with train station near, 7 miles from Whitby. Great food in restaurant, clean comfortable room with tea/coffee/water facilities, nice shower. Would stay there again.

After waiting in the lobby for about 10 minutes while we were studiously ignored by a person at the bar, we were given a key and told to go on up. This was a very nice room for a couple. Unfortunately, we were a family of 4 and had booked a family room. When we told the owner, there was quite a bit of confusion. I guess, someone else was given the room we were scheduled to use, so 2 cots were put into our room. We had sleeping place for 4, but nothing else. Could barely get between the beds to the bathroom, and nowhere to put a suitcase. The room was clean and, other than being crowded, was nice. Very quiet and pretty setting. Dinner was good. Expect to sit a.long time over dinner. Breakfast is fine.

Great home cooked food Steak & Ale pie!!!

We had a lovely 2 night stay at th Horseshoe Hotel , food was excellent, breakfast and evening meals. Room was very clean but a little dated, cosy bar area with good choice of beers and ales, And great live music on the Friday night .

Room fine, Food excellent, lovely area if you Need to relax.

Overnight stay for quick look round the Dales on our way to Whitby. Really nice pub type hotel. Nice room excellent restaurant. Good breakfast. Nice location. Welcoming staff.
