The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a big disappointment (it is actually not a breakfast but two "plastic snacs").
We booked 2 Single beds and were provided with a Double. The Continental breakfast consisted of a sweet croissant in a plastic wrapper .. and a coffee pod for a machine in the hallway.
Unfriendly owner, very disorganized. No TV in bedrooms and Buffet breakfast as advertised. Same towels for 3 nights.Outer window pane missing, inner window cannot close properly and freezing in the room. Continuous train noise, could only sleep for two hours. Filthy bath and clogged up shower head, which dribbles lukewarm water. Unreliable bathroom door lock, got locked in for 5 min until rescued. Terrible experience. Would not Recommend it. Should be one star rating, not three. Photos don't tally the experience. TOTAL DISASTER!
Good place near of the tourist sites.... and close to Santa Maria Novella station.
1. Owner charged us with cash since she said that the bank did not accept my Citi bank or Well Fargo bank credit cards. 2. Owen forbidden us to use tape water in chicken, only can use toilet room water to cook hot water. 3. Owner’s big family members shared the toilet and bath shower with three room guests. Very inconvenient. 4. All of windows could not be close, interfere sleep. 5. Seems not knowing how to speak politely. Owner’s attitudes are needed to improve.
We stayed on a different floor and therefore a different hotel than what we booked. There were a lot more people on our floor and it was very noisy. The heater was leaking all over the floor in our room, but it was also freezing in the room with only the thinnest blanket on the bed. The woman working was very kind and gracious and warned us of the leaky heater (and towel trying to sop up the water), so her service was great. Breakfast was given to us the night before in our room, not buffet. The WiFi did not work in our room, we had to stand at the door to get anything to load. We did check in at 10:25 pm when they say nobody is at the front desk after 10 pm, however the page says you can still check in until midnight. Not sure why we stayed on a different floor in a different “hotel.” This place was one step up from a hostel. It was very cheap, so we understood you get what you pay for.
We only stayed 2days but it was terrible experience. Didn’t have hot water the whole day on day 2. The bathroom and room don’t have proper lock and it’s was very difficult for us to lock. The coffee machine didn’t hv milk. And the worst part is we saw few bedbugs on the bed when we wakeup in each morning. (See pic) my advice please don’t go this place unless you are ok with all this.
very clean and friendly staff
Like some other reviews have mentioned, we were sent to another B&B 5 minutes down the road as there was obviously no space at Novella Italy. We managed to catch a glimpse of the rooms at Novella Italy when checking out and they looked really good in comparison to what we got which was rundown and dim. Just be aware of this when booking as you might not actually get to stay at Novella Italy. We were only there to sleep but we did feel abit misled. Will probably fork out more money on a hotel if we visit Florence again.
This hotel shouldn't be allowed to run as the owner was very rude. Upon arrival at 8 pm, me and my 86 year old mum were rudely herded to another hotel as we don't have any room at Novella Italy. Instead of the owner helping us out with our luggage she kept on telling us to hurry up and even asked me to use the stairs when she can see that I have two suitcases to carry instead of the lift. She dumped us in Melody bed and breakfast which was a block away and kept on telling we have to move to her hotel the following day. Given that we were only in Florence for two nights time is important to us. We were still lucky to have a good night rest at Melody B&B and the owner was very sympathetic about our case. She even called the owner of Novella Italy to come around and help us with our luggage but the owner refused. We ended up going back to Novella Italy and again we were left to stand for about 10 minutes as the owner was on the phone arguing with somebody. Finally when she was finished she ordered us to leave our bags and come back at 12 noon because that is the only time our room will be cleaned. Because of her rudeness I demanded for her to return a full refund of our payment since she really had inconvenienced us and no apologies whatsoever. Finally after I was making a scene she gave us our money back and we left the premises immediately since we really had it with this woman. What should have been a nice holiday turned into a nightmare!
